where did i say second hand smoke has no effect? about the road - i wasn't just referring to accident, car fumes are poisonous too and staying away from them is much harder than avoiding second hand smoke. in 1999 24,000 deaths were attributed to exhaust fumes and caused 300,000 cases of bronchitis in children (over 3 EU countries in which 9,947 children died from accidents). many of the chemicals in smoke (formeldehyde, CO, NOx, SO2, lead, benzene) are also in car fumes.
