A bit of both actually.

The Guyver bio-armor iwas engineered as a weapon to enhance the soldiers in the Creators army, but it's originally a parasitic organism that bonds to a living host and grants semiorganic armor, enhanced strength, speed, stamina and reflexes, a healing factor and a variety of built in weapons such as the head beam, vibroblades, the pressure cannon (gravitybased weapon) and the megasmasher (a particle beam hidden behind the chest plates).
