I don't understand why some people are so opposed to public healthcare but accept public education. The point is there are 3 things humans and society needs to function well: health, education, security. These 3 things are for the benefit of all, this is, the human society, thus, these 3 things should be totally provided and supported by any advanced society.

As someone who's worked for private insurance and public (Medicare/Medicaid) I can say with all honesty that both Drive up prices (accounting for inflation.)
At the very least you have to pay more because there's more people in the middle. But what really brings it up is the third party payer system.
What I'm saying is that if someone doesn't want to pay for health insurance, that should be his right. Of course, he'd be taking a huge risk, but that's fair to me. If each state wants to mandate that everyone pay for basic emergency health coverage, since nobody can be turned down for that, that's fine with me.
People like Maher, Jason Alexander, Tommy Chong, and other faux libertarians hide behind that word because it sounds cool. However, they damage libertarianism by fooling young people into thinking that libertarianism is something that it's not. Libertarians don't like Obama. The fact is that libertarianism is a right wing ideology that abhors big government and is much closer related to the GOP than to the Dems.
Also, libertarians like Ron Paul argue that healthcare is in such a shitty state because of OVER regulation, not because of the free market. As someone who's worked for private insurance and public (Medicare/Medicaid) I can say with all honesty that both Drive up prices (accounting for inflation.)
At the very least you have to pay more because there's more people in the middle. But what really brings it up is the third party payer system.

What I'm saying is that if someone doesn't want to pay for health insurance, that should be his right. Of course, he'd be taking a huge risk, but that's fair to me. If each state wants to mandate that everyone pay for basic emergency health coverage, since nobody can be turned down for that, that's fine with me.

People who already have health insurance are worried that federal dollars funding private health insurance companies will lead to more regulations, including rationing. Therefore, they believe that it will affect THEIR healthcare.
I heard several Republicans come up with the idea of covering those without insurance under the federal employees' plan. It's wrong to say that Republicans didn't have any ideas.

The post office is a joke, and food production is the closest analog to medical services. When you have state control of food production, you get famine. When you have state control of medical services, you get either rationing (europe) or ridiculously high prices (US).

Thank God the insurance bill passed and ready for the president's signature. We need it since our premiums are going to go up again like all years past and everyone now will be able to get medical care where they could not before. I work 2 jobs, have a degree and zero health care coverage.one place i work for offers it but i can't afford it..I would be working for nothing and wouldn't be able to pay for anything else..and yet the folks here with coverage are totally against me having any access to care whatsoever

My problem is that there are Black people DYING because they do not have Health Care.
Black Babies are being born without proper Pediatrician care or ANY Health Care at ALL.
I would rather they have access to SOME Heath Care via the Government than NONE AT ALL>

The argument against socialized healthcare reform has to do with the practicality of implementing such a system. While good in concept, there are many reasons to doubt that a socialized healthcare system can work in America.

I am an atheist, I believe taking care of the less fortunate, it shows that people and our mindset is what separates us from animals.
