Also in 1967 Israel attacked Egypt first in a preemptive strike, which is not considered a defense move by most scholars, because it assumes an attack from the other side. Naturally the other side will contend that they never were going to attack, as was the case here. Intifadas are simply resistance to illegal occupation and oppression.

Why hasn't Israel abided by the hundreds of UN resolutions that have been passed against her? Is a case of selectively using resolutions to suit it's own agenda? Another example, is Israel imploring the UN to take action against Iran for it's nuclear program, meanwhile Israel has never declared it's nuclear weapons.

The blockade of the suez canal to all israeli shipping, and the violation of egyptian-israeli cease-fire agreements from 1948 and 1956 ( in 1956 declaring the sini a non military zone) was the reason for the 1967 war. Not to mention nasser's constant cries for the destruction of the state of israel.

To use the same criteria in judging weather the two should possess nuclear weapons is nothing short of ridiculous. There are many prominent jews that oppose the proliferation of the Israeli military and the actions of Israel in the Palestinian teritorries. 'Antisemetic' is becoming a buzz word in this sense for someone who speaks out against the actions of the state of Israel. Can a jewish person be antisemetic?

To say that the Palestinians' (without generalising) goal is to live in peace isn't exactly accurate as Hamas has stated that it will not rest whilst the state of Israel exists. Israel has opened up negotiations, albeit and quite rightly, not with Hamas, on many occassions, even Gaza has been 'returned'.
Israel is in the unenviable position of having to maintain the perception of strength as it is surrounded by those who wish to see it destroyed. The WORD Israel is even outlawed in Iran.

Also in 1967 Israel attacked Egypt first in a preemptive strike, which is not considered a defense move by most scholars, because it assumes an attack from the other side. Naturally the other side will contend that they never were going to attack, as was the case here. Intifadas are simply resistance to illegal occupation and oppression.

@steute2011 The violation of the UN resolution was not the primary reason for the engagement of israeli troops in 1967. The blockade of the suez canal to all israeli shipping, and the violation of egyptian-israeli cease-fire agreements from 1948 and 1956 ( in 1956 declaring the sini a non military zone) was the reason for the 1967 war. Not to mention nasser's constant cries for the destruction of the state of israel.

Dropping 1-5 ton bombs on densely populated cities and using white phosphorus on civilian populated areas. So is Israel really any better than anyone else when it comes "the history".

You would do well to read up on the "arab revolt" of 1936-1939 during witch at least 500 jewish civilians were murdered by snipers, night time raids, and bombings of schools and trains. Or the Hebron massacre of 1929 where 67 jews were killed in one day. the mid-east conflict didnt start in 1947!

Further to your point about it being "first of its kind", the Irgun who did the bombing actually called the hotel and its so-rounding buildings to warn that the bomb would go off in a few minutes. Much like in the war in gaza in 2009 the IDF called 15 minutes in advance of every air strike to warn civilians in the targeted house or building. you will not see that honor from the arabs.

And just so you know, the king david hotel was the central base of operations of the british military and intelligence in 1947, there were far more government officials than civilians in the hotel wich was also not a public building. holt2k, I think a significant issue in the US is the failure to establish the difference between an antisemitic and someone who is anti-israel military occupation. There are many prominent jews that oppose the proliferation of the Israeli military and the actions of Israel in the Palestinian teritorries. 'Antisemetic' is becoming a buzz word in this sense for someone who speaks out against the actions of the state of Israel. Can a jewish person be antisemetic?

Palestinians are more "semitic" than so called jews. The true jews of Palestine/Israel are Sephardic, not Ashkenazi. They're from the Russian Caspian area. Addendum to this, I feel Judaism faces a major problem when "antisemetic" that is used to describe for example the conduct of the brutal German regime of the 1930s and 40s is now being used to describe opposition to the brutal actions of the state of Israel over the last 50 years.
Opposition to the actions of Israel is strong - and for good reason. Mixing the term "antisemetic" with "opposition to Israeli military action" leads to positive connotations with what should be a negative term.

To say that the Palestinians' (without generalising) goal is to live in peace isn't exactly accurate as Hamas has stated that it will not rest whilst the state of Israel exists. Israel has opened up negotiations, albeit and quite rightly, not with Hamas, on many occassions, even Gaza has been 'returned'.
Israel is in the unenviable position of having to maintain the perception of strength as it is surrounded by those who wish to see it destroyed. The WORD Israel is even outlawed in Iran.
