  • lol good vid u got here

  • You are quite correct about HCJ. He had every right to speak about something he found distasteful, and he handled himself well.

Australians don't have any history of black face minstrels really, and many are unaware of the symbolism it has in the United States.

The youtube comments that you refer to are mostly from rabid Hey Hey fans. As for myself, I've only ever sat through one entire episode, and that was under duress.

  • As a yank living in Australia almost 10 years I can say that maybe 1% of Americans are able to keep this in perspective. I recall this exact same thing happening about 10 times on TV since I have been here. Blacks don't care, whites don't care nor does anyone. The reason for this is that someone in America made a rule a long time ago that said "If you paint your face black, you hate black people." Nobody in Australia made that rule and nobody in Australia should care if someone in America did.

  • Funny how no Americans jump up and down when shows like The Simpsons, south park, family guy, american dad etc continually belittle every other race on the planet, the USA is not the world, there are over 6 billion people on the planet.

Whatever you do, don't upset the yanks, the clip wasn't even racist.

By the way, you're a funny bloke mate.

  • Harry Connick Jr. did the right thing, because no race should be publicly descriminated against, nor should they make fun of themselves. The longer we judge each other off of our differences, the longer we will remain unhappy and truly free. we are all brothers and sisters, and should not portray borders and boundaries about things that we cannot control, such as language, race or national origin. we must put away childish things and stand as humans, not fight like animals. Peace be with all.

  • Harry connick jr is a big fat hypocrite and you are being over sensitive! This is not racism......u need 2 go read a history book and see what racism really is.

Black ppl need 2 read about the civil rights movement and be more in touch with their roots...if you were, you wouldn't be offended by this light matter!

its jus humor...bad or good...its still humor!

  • @tweetyspecial I Love Van Morrison, among others, as well as some other black people do. I At times play their music on my Guitar. It has never ever occurred to me to paint my face with white shoe polish. When Brian McKnight Did his rendition of Crazy Love, I can't Imagine what white face would have added to that performance. The question is, "what's so "entertaining" about the Color of a Human beings Skin...especially exaggerated as it was?" Take your own advice. I hope You some day get it.

  • I totally understand that in America black face is offensive. This skit resembled black face sketches only slightly...it wasnt portraying blacks badly like the racist skits that the US remebers. The only commonality was the make up. Remember in Australia we didnt have this form of racism, we didn't have slavery etc so to us wearing black make up, just like white make up, isnt offensive and seen as racist, nor does it conjure up images of your ugly segregation era history.

  • 10/10

  • nice vid Marvin and i think the movie u was talking about is called Bamboozled and it was a good movie

  • Yo Marvin, impressed you didnt make a scene about the skit you got my respect, The TV show was a tribute to a show that aired for years this was a skit that appeared on that show 20 odd yrs ago thats all, it was redone as a tribute to MJ. Im sure you noticed the crowd all singing along because they liked the music, And im sure you know racism isnt and never has been a problem for australian's.
