  • i would most certainly prefer the 16 to 1 ratio fender ping tunners

over the fender vintage tunners and others. and dont forget once

you alter the guitar in any way you have reduced the value in the future.

  • @stratdem The gear ratio is irrelevant. What DOES hold water is the tunner's (tuner's...actually) ability to keep a string in tune!

The Ping's couldn't hold my strings in tune! I use .010-.052's and bend a lot when I play. I was constantly knocking the Pings out of tune. The Fender/Schaller locking tuner is FAR superior to the Pings and a more logical choice.

As far as the re-sale value.....I DON'T care....I'm NOT selling ANY of mine any time soon!

  • @rich655 sorry to here that. i have had no problems with the

fender pings. and i shure as hell wont change them that will

knock the value down on the guitar. the 2007 highway one strats

are selling today between $1,200 to $1,300 and in a nother 4 years

i'm shure they will go up another $300 to $400.

  • @stratdem The VALUE of my guitars is not what they're worth in the re-sale market. Their value/worth comes into play when I take them out to a club and play and the things STAY IN TUNE and don't embarrass me.

The collection of Highways that I have will (barring any really unusual EMERGENCY situations) stay with me 'tl either they break or I die. I didn't buy them for an 'investment'; they are living, breathing, working TOOLS and must perform as such.

I now have them set up that way.

  • NItro HWY-1s are killer, great platform to build a Strat, hell they are very usable stock.

  • beutiful body finish in nitro

  • Nitrocellulose lacquer is by far better than a poly urethane plastic.

    My Guild D40 has nitro.

Most high end acoustics have nitro lacquer.

    Lacquer on a Fender Strat?

Sounds like they are reflecting back on early times when sound was more important than a heavy clear coat.

  • @pithor Pretty much. Fender said themselves that the Highway One series is all about function over form.

  • Crappy Nitro finish? OMG, I'd have Nitro over Poly any day.....ahh, youth......

  • @rasticles The Nitro sounds so much better. I didn't believe it at first either.

Now I just wish my PRS CU22 was nitro. :-(

  • HAH! you can hear stillborn in the backround. BLS is awesome

  • How do you know the price is going up?

  • thanks for the demo of strat tones without mass distortion!

  • I'd buy one, but I hate the crappy nitro finish on the HW1. I don't get the whole "vintage" thing. Fender should make a HW1 with a modern finish that will last.

  • but it allows the wood to breathe more lol

  • What the hell do you need a HW1 with a poly finish? That's basically a Mexican Standard man. The whole appeal of the Highway 1 is that it has a nitro finish for cheap, I mean that's why they're marketing the model.

  • @c0deMunkey The whole point of the Nitro finish is that it makes the guitar sound better. That's what Highway One guitars are about..function over form.

  • i have a highway 1 vintage blonde transparent satin finish black pickguard black nobs, white pickups, ebony V shaped neck.

tis my favorite stratocaster in the world

  • i just bought one and it's great black maple1

  • I agree with what Stratdem says here. The Highway One Strats are amazing!

  • roland cube 30 is the best amp 4 the price IMO

  • stand corrected fretts. you will be paying $974.98 for the highway one in march. and its worth every penny and more!

  • u get one out the door for around $700...i got mine a couple months ago

  • haha stillborn - BLS in the background

  • i bought one of ebay and I am 110% certain I got a fake! I got a HW1 neck on a crap fake body. I took a bunch of pictures. Inside I found three different dates from 05, 06, and 07. The seller said the guitar was from 06 and has never been messed with, modded, etc and claims it's all original and that I am just trying to scam him. CAN SOMEONE HELP ME if they see the pictures I took??? I need to get my $ back from this creep

  • Do you have problems with tuning ? when bend , or use the whammy bar ? i have serious problems with tuning on my Highway one !

  • If you bought it used, someone may have added a spring to the trem but it shouldn't have trouble staying in tune. If you bought it from a store, I'd suggest taking it to them with your concerns. No guitar should give you trouble with tuning, bending and using the whammy.

  • hey fretts the highway one strat has gone up in price there now $899.99 to $925.00

some places are still selling for $750.00 BUT! thats not going to last very long the price change will be everywere soon

  • @alldini I own 8 Highway One Strat HSS's and I've replaced ALL the crappy stock Ping tuners with Fender/Schaller locking tuners. (they drop right in!!) Problem solved!!!

  • @rich655 the ping tunners are not crappy my friend the fender pings

that are on the highway one sss strat are a 16 to 1 gear ratio that not

realy going to get any better than that.

  • with effects pedals any amp with a good clean sound can be a rock amp, but i agree the dirty channel on this amp sucks, thats why i use distortion pedals with the amp on clean

  • The RG60 has such a great clean sound. Not a rock amp though...

  • this is the one with the humbucker in bridge position right?? sounds amazing.. any style. puts many other guitars to shame :)

  • yep

  • í love this guitar it looks amazing and plays even better! U can acctually get full on punk, grunge and havey metel sounds from this, and still have the classic blues/jazz sound that the strats are so famous for!!!!

  • my 2007 highway one strat is the most versatile strat i have played in my 35 years of playing. i also have the new 2008 american standard what a wast of money the highway way one is the superior one.

  • compared the highway one 2007 strat against the 2008 new american standard and the highway one walked all over the american standard in the tone department same in the feel/playabilty.the american standard is a pretty guitar BUT!being pretty doesnt cut it.

  • i know! i even liked this one more than the american delux hss strat!

  • i could just tell it was guitar center by the sound of the obnoxious metal heads =P nice playing and I'm saving up for one of these

  • you need to hury then rumor has it the 2008 is the end of the road for this increadable strat fender needs to stop the american standard strat NOT the highway one than high way one is much better all the way around than the american standard. so if you have the upgrades late 2006 to present hold on to them they will become strat legends.

  • where did you hear this rumor about the fender highway one beind discontinued? is the source reliable? because i own one and i wanna know if its gonnabe worth money.

  • OMG it looks so easy to play!
