Not at all! You pointed out that there is more than one way to accomplish this task and have given viewers another valid option.
Some folks are the type to make things happen from what's laying around the house and others folks don't want to bother with that and rather buy something that's ready to rock-n-roll and spend their time on other things they enjoy.
When traveling a 1,000+ miles into unknown areas a GPS is crucial in finding your way back home. Yes, people actually ride their bikes on long road trips. It's truly liberating!
third: do I have to use the fuse and all that goodies? cannot I just cut that off and plug the wire directly to the battery or any other source of power in the motorcycle? like the lamp or parking light?
doesn't the end of the cigarette power adapter\fm traffic reciever have a fuse in the end of it?...it screws off looks like a glass tube?....been thinking of hooking it up to my fzr, can a motorcycle electrical system handle the extra current draw?
first: how did you mount your GPS on your motorcycle? I have c330 and I wonder how you did yours. I mounted my under windshield.
second: if you connected your GPS to the parking light instead of battery you wouldn't have to use any additional switch - it would take power from parking light which is ALWAYS ON whenever the key is turned in ON position even if engine is not running.
hi great video!! a question for you. The switch was not water proof so how does it handle in the rain? or when wet?

@andy5412: not so good, need to better protect the switch

ermmm not to burst ur tech bubble. but they have a ciggrette socket that hooks right to ur battery on ebay.
involves no modding and costs a few £ and u can power other 12v things via it

That is certainly a valid option if that's what you want to do.

If you value your GPS use a fuse. The fuse will prevent excessive current from reaching your GPS and potentially frying it.

I use either a Ram mount or the suction cup (stayed on for a 1,000mi journey).
cytechnet 4 years ago
Ram mount (bar mount) is definitely the route to go, after seeing how good it works on the bike i got one for the car.
