  • I am a begginer at playing jazz but from the very opening scale, i had to play a trumpet A to match the G minor scale, so if a trumpet player is taking this tutorial do we think everything up a whole step?

  • you are the BESTTTT!!

  • yeah, great tutorial , bravo for both players,,,

  • You both are awesome!

  • impressionant!

  • Great man. Interesting how there are at least 2 ways to say the same thing. You say minor pentatonics, but I've always thought of them as major pentatonics, starting on a different note. Like the G minor pentatonic is really a Bb major pentatonic, starting on the 5th note. Ramon Ricker has that in his pentatonic book.

  • @daviderato true Dave! The reason why I go with Minor Pentatonics is because most players start with playing something close to the 'blues scale"-which is really close to a minor pentatonic. For me it's much easier to relate to coming from blues and funk which highight minor thirds a lot more. Mark Levine's Jazz Harmony book also spells out what Ramon Ricker says too. Hear a Cm7 chord-you got three MINOR pents starting on the 1,2,5. Hear a C7-you got MAJOR Pents on 1,4,7.

  • Thanks!

  • Very nice, give the bassplayer a raise haha
