  • This makes me happy :D

  • America's ambassador of music for the whole wide world.. and then out comes a guy singin' about cheesecake munchies.

  • This was like the internet before there was internet.

  • gobble gobble;)

  • I don't care how many times I see this or how bad I'm down, this song can make me laugh my ass off.

  • wow, how did people get away singing about cheesecake's. amazing

  • soundcloud com /djgrissino /cheesecake-dj-grissino

  • I'm abusing the replay button

  • This song plays in the elevators and shopping malls of Heaven.

  • I used to listen to record over and over when I was a little kid; Shatchmo was one of my parents' favorite artists

  • I´ve never eaten cheesecake.. :(

  • AWESOMEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!

  • @MsInsipinsi - haha :D:D

  • Just seen that this was made in the year I was born. I played this song to death when I was a boy. Odd.

  • @harrisonaard1 You know what's odd? My favorite album is Insomniac by green day, and a few weeks ago I learned that it was released the same day that I was born

  • lol black humor sure has changed

  • Look at Louis, having a ball with some work friends. Course, he'd never think of that as work...

  • CHEEZCAKE GABBLE GABBLE

  • This song is soo funny, I love it!! rip Louis!!

  • the only thing this video proves is that ol' louie can sing about anything and still entertain millions... because he is a musical mastermind

  • Wow people, you mind just enjoying the music, and not being judgemental racists?!

  • Haha, what an awesome song. Never fails to make me smile :D

  • Are you an insecure coward?

  • No, he is an African-American.

  • @ stahlhans --

Please tell me you're being facetious.

  • With even a mediocre tune Louis could make it swing, put his own stamp on it. What a musician, and only he could pull this off. While many might ridicule him for doing this song, I bet none of them could do as well. Envy turned to criticism?

  • our teacher, Mr Bannister, played this song in art and challenged us to NOT laugh or smile IT WAS HALLERIOUS

  • fantastic tune. but im curious about the comedy routine by his sidekick. isnt that method with making the eyes standing out something taken from the minstrel-show tradition? Or was it a common comedy routine? I get a vibe when i see it that is somehow uneasy.

  • lol my music teacher plays this and were like errmm...

  • you were like ERM WHERE'S THE RHIANNA I bet

  • yhh we counted how many times he sed cheese cake.....it was about 69 lol its just like i damn love cheesecake!

  • This song was written by Irving Fields...

  • By the power of GreySkull look at the size of my Asparagus

  • this was one of my favorite songs as a kid hehe.. my father had the LP

  • I LOVE CHEESECAKE

  • me too. both the song and the food

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!!!

  • What language is that? just wondering.

  • Fuckin love Colin Murray - his shows genius

Such a shame he's leaving to do some shitty sport thing.

  • If only ol' Louis hadn't used the tobacco drug, he would have been around much longer to entertain!

  • had he not work as hard as he did, he would have lasted longer!!

  • @tripjet999 i dunno, he was 70 when he pegged out, not a bad innings. a legend and the 'king of new orleans' often imitated, never beaten. a true entertainer.

  • Yeah I heard it on colin murray aswell. Had to check it out again. LOL

  • Heard this on Colin Murray's radio show last night and it is now my new favourite song!

  • i heard this last night at 1am for the first time and i laughed so much XD its brilliant!

  • i heard this many many years ago on dr demento. like 30 years ago and now i know i wasnt imagining it! thanks!

  • Me too! It's amazing how a song like this just gets stuck in your head forever. And even when I worked in a CD store with a BIG jazz section, I don't think I ever found this on CD.

Cheers to Doctor D! He is still broadcasting.

I tuned in for the funny stuff, but I realize that I learned a LOT of musical history along the way. Long may he reign!

  • XD OMFG this is AWSOME

  • ha ha i heard this on the Signal holiday episode and

  • i couldn't stop laughin

  • I haven't heard this in 30 years! (and I love how Louis' cracking up with Tyree's 'Cheesecake!' bits).

  • outstanding!

dad used to sing this to me 30 odd years ago. Finally I get to hear & view it.

  • Thanks a bunch for that jazzman.

  • Wow holy crap! I heard this once in something like 2nd or 3rd grade. This song has stayed wit me since then. Now I get to hear it again today! Wow! This is such a feel good happy song as Satch was a musician. Also. Does anyone know who the clarinet player is? He looks like a well known in jazz that I might have seen before.

  • Oh yes, i agree to you, cheesecake from Louis

is a fantastic happy tune, i know it for nearly 40 years as a record. Tonight i saw it for the first time on video and remembered the happy times in my childhood, when my father bought the record.

I think the clarinetplayer is Buster Bailey,

he joined the AllStars in 1965 and to stay until 1967 when Joe Muranyi came.

    The funny cheesecake-mumbling tromboneplayer

    is Tyree Glenn.

  • I believe the pianist is Marty Napolean and the drummer is definitely Danny Barcelona. Not sure who the bassist is - does not look like Arvell Shaw, who was Pop's regular bassist.

  • I think the bassman must be Buddy Catlett, he joind the AllStars as regular member in 1965 and stayed until the end 1971.

I never saw Louis and his Band live but would give my last shirt for having the chance to do!

Have a happy swingin' new year!

  • The clarinetist is Buster Bailey, the bassist is Buddy Catlett & the pianist is Marty Napoleon. This was taped in September, 1966 & it aired in April, 1967.

  • this makes me chuckle

  • I was always wondering where the Cheesecake Shop got their song from :P Now I know! (Shop in Australia if you're wondering... and the best place to buy a chocolate mudcake... mmm)

    69 times

  • You actually counted? This song is funny. =]

  • "That's part of the minstrel tradition!"-Dr. W. Logan

  • stumbled across this accidently and watched it every day since

    ................ brilliant!!!!!
