  • With their large 50 sq. ft. grate, Peppercorn designed them to run on poor quality coal!!

She ran beautifully yesterday, I was priviledged to do the entire run throughout. I was a bit wary about the sensitive smoke detection system at London Euston when she arrived back, however the crew managed the fire fantastically and she created less clag at Euston than the NR test trains with class 31s or HSTs!

  • Mate....your bang on, ok its only 18months old, but GB wa better....remember class 08,25,27,26,33,37,31,47,45,46,52,55,56,58,mark 1,mark 2 etc etc...yea things are boring now....just like old GB.

Oh and lets face it....the LNER where these reigned sepreme on a 17 coach sleeper leaving Newcastle

  • Christopher 125.......yes I am aware of Tornado being a new build and the 390 is older. However, your comment was indicative of the pedantic superficiality which is associated with a lot of hobbies in general, but particuarly with those to do with railways. Perhaps you can enlighten us about what sort of coal it runs best on?

  • @Christopher125 Your correct. The Pendo's are actually much older than Tornado. However I know what he means.
