However, people will continue to use them because they work, and are still cool. If you consider this band or song cliche, I say give me cliches any day over the shit that permeates American radio airwaves these days!!!

@crlumberjack The backyard babies have more punk influences than bob dylan or david bowie. Punk is pretty cliche at this point so a band influenced by punk is going to come across as cliche. Personally, I don't mind how generic they sound - it's one of the reasons I listen to them. Tell me you don't have a few guilty pleasures that aren't exactly classy when it comes to music.
