Seems like every brawl between PG and Van starts with the giants hitting one of the cougars into the boards from behind, ah well, gives the cougars a reason to beat the hell outta vancouver!
I also want to add that it's not just cougar fans complaining. Many teams have noticed oddities with the refs when Vancouver was playing against them. I remember years ago when Slade was still with them. He skated to the corner after the play was whistled dead, slipped and fell. And the Cougar nearest to him got a penalty. None of the refs were even watching.
And the Cougars or any other team for that matter have never gotten a soft call in their favor? Please, you are sounding even more ridiculous than before.
Keep in mind the Cougars had 14 PP opportunities combined in both games this weekend. The Giants had 10. I rest my case. Officiating was absolutely not the determining factor in the outcome of either game.
The non calls were the bigger issue, like the non call on the highstick on Forsberg which lead to a Vancouver goal. Vancouver got away with many dirty plays. They ran over our goalie probably 6 more times then what they got penalties for. I am not in denial. I know the Cougars get away with stuff too. I see that, I don't deny it, but Vancouver was getting away with a lot more than they should have been, and I see it more with them than any other team that comes here.
As I stated previously, Forsberg kneed Gallagher prior to the high stick. So at best both teams end up penalized. I know Gallagher ended up scoring right afterwards but regardless the Giants still had the lead and still likely would have won even if Gallagher doesn't score. The fact PG ended up with more PP opportunities certainly doesn't support your theory that the Giants got away with a lot. They obviously did not. In the end, we'll have to agree to disagree on this matter.
Vancouver played so dirty in the 2 games that weekend, and the refs let them get away with everything. Their captain ran over our Goalie 3 times even when they had the 6-2 lead. No class. In the first game all 4 refs somehow missed the most blatant high stick at center ice that sent Forsbergs helmet across 2 lines, and disallowed a goal that was clearly in. Seems like this always happens when Vancouvers in town.
You sound as ridiculous as Ron St. Claire. The Giants won both games because they are a much better team than the Cougars. Bouma did run over Jahraus several times. He also got penalized for it. The Cougars chose to do nothing about it. They should have went after Bouma if they had an issue with it. And lastly you're right, Gallagher did high stick Forsberg. However Forsberg kneed Gallagher right before Gallagher high sticked him. Best case scenario each team should have received a penalty.
Bouma just hid if anyone went after him, also. If Gallagher was in the box like he deserved to be, he wouldn't have scored. I am not complaining that the Cougars lost. I did not expect them to win. I know they have a horrible team this year. I just hate seeing a game lose all it's entertainment value because refs have no control over it. Which is exactly why the line brawl happened. The refs had no control over the game and the players had to take things into their own hands.
The only time anybody went after Bouma was when Thiessen did late in the 3rd period of the 2nd game. I didn't like the fact Bouma didn't drop his mitts and fight back but it's certainly not because he's afraid of Thiessen or anyone else on the Cougars. Lose entertainment value? Call me crazy but this brawl was pretty damn entertaining. Games usually suck when the officials have too much control and call every chintzy tick tack penalty. That truly kills the game and the entertainment value.
Yeah, it's funny how it's always the team that is kicking ass that is the dirty team. Serious loser mentality all over the Prince George club I'm hearing. That's the Canadian way.....cry foul if you lose.
