@willsing4label it's not all about the explicity and gore. Sometimes not showing things can be much more effective as it's left more to the viewer's imagination. I personally think the portrayal of the shooting in this film was perfect. :)
We are currently in pre-production for a feature-length version, which drops the Columbine references. Instead, it's about the first ever British school shooting, but on the scale of Columbine, using the same boy and girl. The working title is 'Never' (because such a shooting has NEVER happened in Britain...)
@Windurin dunblane massacre? that killed more than columbine did and it was even before columbine. columbine doesn't even come close to the worst school shooting, even for its time. canada had the polytechnic shooting where someone managed to kill 14 people before killing himself. then there is the bath school massacre, the cologne massacre and the university of austin shootings. though only dunblane was in the british isles, my point is that i wonder why columbine is talked of more.
Hi, I am aware of most of the school shootings you mentioned, especially of course the Dunblane massacre. However, you're absolutely right when you say that Columbine is talked about more. Even today, when there have been even worse shootings, everyone always thinks of Columbine first when they hear of a school shooting. I don't know why that is either, it's just ingrained in our culture now.
Hi, that's a good point, it's usually a lone gunman. When it's one person it's easy to label them as 'psychopathic', 'mentally damaged', they did it of their own accord, etc, they made their own choice.
When there's 2 of them involved, I think people flirt with the question: 'Who pushed who?'
@Windurin also columbine was not a mere shooting, it was intended to be a timothy mcveigh plot. also some psychiatrists are still wondering if this was a pre-planned shooting or just them losing touch with reality. the polytechnique shooter marc lepine only intended to kill some feminist politician who made this anti racist policy that made it women got more scholarships, so some women in his school with lower grades were getting his engineering scholarships simply for being a female.
@Windurin then only 2 weeks before the shooting, his ex-girlfriend, aborted his 4 month old baby against his will, but she got the law on her side because a few months earlier some law made it that men have no say if a woman chooses to abort a baby. that afternoon, he was going to snipe the politician but her speech got canceled. then he went to the engineering school and was telling women to become anti-feminists though few were feminists, the argument got out of hand and he killed 6 instantly.
@Windurin the idea that marc lepine was a woman hater was a feminist propaganda tool to make politicians take their side. there is evidence it wasn't planned. in fact as soon as he shot them, he went to the projector and wrote "SHIT!" twice. he was also mad at mary baly who only a few years before the shooting wanted a policy that women were superior to men in society and wanted a female utopia where only 10% of the world were males. even his suicide letter said he only hated feminists.
Also, the reason I think Dunblane is different to what we want to portray is that it was an older man killing young children, there hasn't really been a large scale British school shooting where it's kids killing kids. That's the thing that haunts me, and it would be different I think because gun control is very different in the UK, knife crime is a lot more common.
I agree, although this is the short version and this is what we called it when we made it. It was for a project while we were in film school in which we had to make a film that mixed fact and fiction so we basically did an alternate version of Columbine, imagining it was a boy and a girl as opposed to two boys, and therefore a twisted relationship as opposed to a twisted friendship.
Dylan was not gay, we can't prove that so please stop saying it....anyway. Yes. I wanna know when this is coming out too. It looks interesting. Doesn't seem to be too closely related to what actually happened tho. I want to make a movie that probably more closely resembles the story but, whatev. I still want to see this.
LOL..good point, but tell that to Eric and Dylan, the real Coulmbine killers. They used the same method of striking paper taped to their arms so they could quickly light their Pipe Bombs and CO2 bombs. Otherwise, they'd have to get the lighter out of their pockets and even then, it might not ignite on the first go.
Either way, we don't know which method they used, probably both, but they could have run out of gas/matches. Who knows, but it's a trivial point, it was there for attention to detail, even though it is an admittedly lame idea.
Actually all 30 of the pipe bombs they lite did blow up. The other sixty or so they didn't try to detonate and the propane bombs didn't go off. Everything that they lite with matches during the shooting did detonate and Dylan's car bomb did go off also just at 11:17 p.m. instead of a.m.
Wrong, even read the police reports Dylans car blew up at 11 pm. The pipe bombs did explode they thew them inside and outside. If you saw the reports you would see pics of detonated pipebombs as well as some that did not go off. The best pic is a pipe bomb after detonation stuck in a sheet rock wall. Do your research kid.
Thank you. The full movie is finished, but it's 17 minutes long so I would need a Director's Account to upload the whole thing. I'm not really 100% happy with the final film anyway so we may be reshooting it sometime later this year. I will post any updates here.

@Windurin my guess can only be that maybe unlike 99.9% of school shooters who do this alone, in columbine there was 2 of them.

you should change the name
when people see 4/20/99 they think columbine and this obviously has very little(if nothing at all) to do with columbine.
overall it was a great trailer though and it could probably become a great movie

nice but umm i watchd a histery channel story about this and it stated that most of the home maid pipe bombs never exploded i dont no for shor tho

You're right, they didn't explode because Eric and Dylan sucked at making pipe bobmbs, but they still used them.

no, they threw bombs outside of the school that didn't go off
And the bomb squad stopped dylan car bomb from exploding. It would have gone off at about 11 that night had they not disabled it.

I'm not saying that all of their pipebombs failed to detonate
I'm only saying that some of the ones that they threw while they were still outside didn't go off
