this can be upgraded for abs feature for a 100 bucks, the 3160 already has it included. I think the 3140 might be the best one, sure it cant be upgraded for the abs feature but it has the obd1 kit, live data like the other two, what do you think?
@LostInMadness220 Hi, you don't need a scan tool to read an obd 1 vehicle. You just need a paper clip and watch for the flashes on the CEL (check engine light). As is always the case, buy the best tool you can afford. Not all states requre abs to work for inspection, so it's a moot point for us.
@outworldarts Do you think 3130 the best one? cheap compared to the others with live data, i tried the blinking once with a 91 s10 but is it the same with the rest, toyota, ford and so on. The abs is just the wheels and the airbags right will those affect the powertrain if something is wrong with the abs.
@LostInMadness220 I like the 3130, the best one is the one that suits your needs. It will read ABS codes. It won't read air bag data at all. Neither will affect the power train.
thins scanner is a must a in mechanic tool box it will give you the code and then use their online to see what are the probable causes which is a plus...this thing is better than guessing and putting wrong parts in your car...
hioutworldarts, i want to say first of all Thanks for the video. i have one question, my chip in my key has failed so now my immobiliser will not permit me to start my engine, so my question is will this device help me out with the immobiliser in some way? i.e read the immobiliser's frequency? or maybe the device can make the fuel injection engage without the immobiliser being de-mobilised? As you may know, a new key from the manufacturer's is EXPENSIVE!! Anyway, Thanks once again.!
this the most usless tool ive ever sen, it does nothing but gives u values and codes, try setting throttle adaptations on nissans with ET,, or coding ABS modules/ steering angles sensors on Bimmers,,no activations, I mean autozone can do this for u for free, its more of a toy than a real scan tool, or jus read codes for personal use its great
In the UK there is no such thing as OBD II standard to meet. It would not do you any good to purchase this tool for use on a vehicle manufactured in the UK. In other words, you don't need this tool.
I have an INNOVA 3100 and yes, it can clear the codes however if you dont fix what caused the light to come on it will come back anyway soon or later.
Btw, another way to delete the codes (and turn off the light) is to remove the battery terminal for few minutes which resets the computer memory (you dont need a 100$+ scanner for this!) however as mentioned above the light will come back anyway if you dont fix the problem.
This 3130 is a steal on Amazon.com for $129. i'm getting one shortly.

@AHillLuke Unfortunately, it won't help with that problem. It only reads codes. Thanks

I think I'm going to pick one of these up. Thanks for the review! Oh, can it clear codes so you can get rid of the damm CEL?
