I have a lost black kitty who came to me Halloween night 2011. She has already scratched my French Bulldog's eye resulting in vets more vet bills. She has a ring worm on her right paw.I have taken her to the vet for spay/tests/shots. I am going to get her declawed on the front feet only because she will be inside, she won't be able to react scratch my grand kids or my dog or us. My husband is on heart meds and takes blood thinners. I think the US is way ahead of Europe
This is animal cruelty. I wonder why the US haven't already banned this highly intrusive "modification" like in the more civilized parts of the world.
It doesn't make sense - you have the animal police, but at the same time allow irresponsible cat owners to selfishly torment their "loved-ones" with this painful and life-altering procedure, just to fit their material needs.
If you feel this is a "last resort", you should never have gotten a cat in the first place.
omg.. I wanted to throw up watching this! Still feel a little queezy... and I know this method is much "nicer" than the old school methods but I would never be able to put my cats through something like this :(
IF YOU DON'T WANT YOUR CATS TO SCRATCH YOUR CHAIRS AND TABLES THEN DON'T ADOPT THEM!!! YOU THINK YOU LOVE THEM EVEN YOU DECLAW YOUR PET??? DO YOU THINK YOUR CAT DON'T FEEL SAD AND ANGRY? YOU ARE WRONG. IF YOU ARE MY CAT, AND I PULL OUT ALL YOUR FINGER NAILS. WHAT WILL YOU THINK AND HOW YOU FEEL??? EXCITED????
Whats fucked is ppl piss and whine about declawing yet get their cats fixed. Whether its healthier or not isnt the point im making. Its the point of altering your cat one way and being completely fine with it yet find people who get their cats declawed disgusting. Either way you are altering an animal because YOU are choosing to. I dont think id want my ovaries taken out if I were a cat.. but thats just me
@savannahsmom1985 Cats don't walk on their stomachs. They do, however, walk on their feet. Cats don't walk flat footed like we do. Cats walk up on their toes and when you declaw, you're forcing your cat to walk on amputated stumps the rest of their life.
There are a plethora of reasons why to spay your cat: Cuts down on unwanted litters, cuts the risk of cancers, cuts out the need to deal with heat cycles every other month. There are NO medical benefits to delcawing.
@LDC454 Honestly to each their own. Ive seen enough cats that are fine from being declawed. If you dont like a procedure.. than you just dont have it done. But I see enough people being attacked for having different views. And All im saying is let people be!
i just trim my cats nails and it's really not difficult at all. they also have plenty of claw towers as well. people should AT LEAST try these options first before de-clawing, because it's really unnecessary. i have 10 kitties and every single one of them will let me trim their claws and they use their scratching posts, so it can work! and if all else fails, you can also buy claw caps.
i have my cat declawed for reason! .. he break all my window screen so many times, and he bolt outside and got hurt by my dogs who chase him for nothing.. he got hurt for it few times and i really fed up by fixing window screens.. so i took him vet for injured from bitting and give him a declawed.. after that.. he is very happy cat.. he not mad/hiss/ or yowling at me for declawed...
Cats claws and the bones and cartilage that hold them in place allow cats to balance properly, climb, and defend themselves, among other functions. Declawing, which removes these claws, bones, and cartilage, is a painful and permanently crippling procedure that should never be performed. There are effective and humane alternatives to declawing that can prevent cats from inflicting damage with their claws.
How can declawing be an enjoyable procedure? You are cutting off the last digit of the cat's paw, rendering it virtually unable to protect itself in a natural manner, hunt, stretch it's muscles and tendons, etc. This practice should be illegal everywhere. If you think it's necessary to declaw every cat you own, you shouldn't own a cat, at all. The fact that lots of people think it's NECESSARY to declaw cats is just sad and sick. That tells me cats are nothing but decorations to them.
ANYONE with a shred of knowledge about surgical technique knows WOOD is an absorbent material and cannot be adequately cleaned or sterilized. It's not the Nineteenth Century anymore. Geez. A) make it out of Plexiglass, B) not really the place for your blatant commercial, C) get some video production help, D) cats RARELY need to be declawed. Try some training (behavior mod) plenty of resources!!

Still against declawing. I had no choice but to do it to my oldest cat Alison. And now she has a mean streak with her.
