Well, I grew up with Harry Potter, but I love Star Wars even though I didn't grow up with the original trilogy. (yes, I do think the original trilogy is better than the prequel trilogy)

I will say Harry Potter is BETTER than Star Wars because Harry Potter never shit on itself like Star Wars eventually did.

The truth is that when adjusted for inflation, the Star Wars movies grossed more than the Harry Potter ones. In other words, more tickets were sold to watch the Star Wars movies than Harry Potter. This is all the more amazing considering that there were fewer people in the world when Star Wars came out.

It's very traditional and has been used thousands of times before. Even lightsabers aren't original in Star Wars. Also Star Wars has been out for around 30years, Harry Potter has been out for 10 (if we're including the books) so you can't compare the two yet.
