  • "i see your schwarts is as big as mine." lol

  • IM 18 and i love this move

  • Watched this movie a hundred times when i was a kid. Great Movie with classic Mel Brooks Humor. Like when he dropped the 15, or wait 10 Commandments in History of the World. Another Classic. Blazzing Saddles, High Anxiety, Robin Hood:Men in Tights, The Dracula Movie with Leslie Nielson. All stupidly funny. Wish he would get off the producers musicals and do at least one more movie before he kicks the bucket. Have to wait n see.

  • I've watched this movie sooo many times and it never gets old

  • this is hilarious

  • im 13 and i only watched it cyz of my girlfriend its a good movie

  • Hahaha my last name is Schwartz :D

  • Hahaha my last name is Schwartz :D

  • It holds up

  • I need to rewatch it again because I thought it was ok , but like you guys said it has great moments.

  • Here is the term you where looking for.

"I am your father's sister's cousins former roommate."

  • Awesome review! I was 7 or 8 when I first saw this movie and I still laughing even though I was too young to get half of the jokes.

I wonder how it will be before George Lucas releases a Star Wars flamethrower...

  • Sound effects guy FTW!

  • Airplane review???

  • After years and years of people quoting this movie I finally tried it and I dunno I couldn't sit through it. A couple of times I laughed but it just didn't catch my attention :/ I can understand why people like though.

  • When I first saw it, I didn't even speak English all that well :-P and I still Laughed my 'dang foreigner' bootay off :D It's SO great!!

  • Wasn't there a big red button with a sign that said, 'Absolutely never press this button under any circumstances'? My favourite part.

  • i saw this when i was in 8th grade (i'm 17 now). i fucking loved it, and i still love it.

  • he's an asshole sir hahaha

  • I'm 21 and I get all the jokes, then again I'm not an idiot, its a great movie.

  • great movie!!!spaceballs and family guys star wars shows are the best spoofs of star wars.

  • RIP John Candy!

    Good call fellas! *raises beer*

Ill be 33 this month and The Mayor approves!

Especially with Rick Morranis's phallic tie, liquid schwarz, and the canned air (Perriair)!

  • I've rediscovered this one thanks to Max, who can't get enough of it...!! This is a sweet parody, and just timeless feel-good-ness. Thanks for this vid!

  • Classic movie. Lol. One of my favorites. "We've been.....JAMMED!!!"

  • I'm still waiting for Spaceballs 2: The Quest for More Money.

  • The line is "I am your father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roomate."

  • Spaceballs was absolutely hilarious the first time I saw it. I was in my early teens, so I could understand most of what was going on, even if I didn't see the direct references to the Star Wars series.

The second time I watched it, however, I was severely disappointed when it didn't make me laugh as hard and often as the first time. I had seen all of the jokes before, and I knew what was coming, so I think, for me, it was doomed to fail.

  • im surprised some star wars fan hasn't had a heart attack and commented " its not a carrier!, it's a star destroyer"!!!

  • Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Please. Review. And remain awesome.

  • Next Classic Review = Monty Python and the Holy Grail

  • I feel ya on the generation thing guys! Spaceballs is just too much of a classic spoof. Nothing is going to beat it. Too original. I was just reminded as to how funny it was watching this preview, I'm going to watch it now.

  • I've watched spaceballs so many times and that predator joke gets me every time

  • Comment removed

  • "I bet she gives great helmet." LOL

Great movie. Awesome review guys definitely a classic! 5/5

  • i'm 15 and it is one of my favorite movies of all time. that and blazing saddles and young Frankenstein

  • I'm 16 years old, and I first watched this movie when I like ten. And there is only 2 movies that I can think of that tops this. Well at least comedy wise and thosr two movies are The Princess Bride, and Monty Python and the Holy Grail, you guys need to review Monty Python!!!!!

  • @MrSiikwithasmile MONTY PYTHON SHMOES!

  • i think some of the jokes are just too obvious but if i'm in the right mood it can be hilarious

  • This is one of my all time favorite comedies. I'm 21

  • We ain't found shit!

  • Why didn't you guys mention John Candy?!? Shame shame....

This has been one of my favourite movies for years. Everytime I watch it with friends they yell at me for quoting it all the way through. Hahah! I love all of Mel Brooks' movies. <3

  • The relation-line is hilarious. "I am your father's brother's...."

  • LoL I just saw you guys on tv, I was like waaaaaaa....

I haven't watched Spaceballs in forever and a day. Love that movie!

  • Spaceballs is great

  • funny, these guys dont look druish!

  • I loved this as a kid! It was my intro to Star Wars and holds a very special place in my heart. Haven't seen it in a while and would not mind seen it again... and again and again and again and again and ... :)

  • I just saw it a few minutes ago.

"You idiots, this isn't them, IT"S THE STUNT DOUBLES!!!"

  • never seen it, but john candy is always funny, i'll check it out

  • i saw this when i was about 16 long before i was a starwars fan and i still found it hilarious. now that im super sci fi geek its a million times funnier

and i think moranis' wife passed and he retired after that. its a shame hes a genius. and i believe canadian ;) i hope stuckmann sees this ;p

  • i'm 19 and Spaceballs is probably my favorite movie

  • I sure do miss John Candy. He never failed to give me a good laugh and he did it with a lot of heart. I loved him on SCTV and it was great to watch him do so well in movies. One of the great comics of our time.

  • @Garrison64 agreed! John Candy was awesome! Loved him especially in Planes, Trains and Automobiles.

  • I love Spaceballs a lot, but my favorite Mel Brooks film is Young Frankenstein, do you think you can review that movie? Anyways, great review keep up the good work.

  • Saw it on tv, loved every minute. Bought it soon after 1rst viewing. Great pick, schmoes.

  • X Men First Class was badass by the way, when you seeing/reviewing it?

  • @13evilpriest13 I think they might review it on Friday considering Kristian already saw it and Mark is seeing it tonight.

  • Pizza the Hut got locked in his car and ate himself LOL. I'm 16, I saw this movie when I was about 13 and I laughed my ass off the whole time. The 4min long shot of the ship at the beginning was the funniest thing in the world and the best way to start a Star Wars spoof.

  • 71 people went to ludicrous speed.

  • i loved this movie, this is the way that a parody should be made...ehhemm

Vampaire Sucks, Disaster movie , etc...

  • This movie is classic, there's nothing to lose.

  • This movie is above awesome. I love it! Need to watch it again...

  • Ello chums. Great to revisit you guys! Couldn't pass up my absolute favorite classic comedy. I definitely think it still holds up. You gotta have respect for the Classics, though. I've shown Spaceballs to some friends of mine before and they thought it was "too slow"... I wanted to due that thing Dark Helmet does to his one "asshole" soldier and use my Schwartz ring on their balls for their insolence.

    Great review, guys!

    -P.J.

  • You sometimes forget how much Spoof movies used to kick ass. Absolutely right, timeless! Makes me want to watch it right now haha. Mel Brooks is genius.

  • I rewatch it once a year and its always badass, my 2nd favourite Brooks behind Young Frankenstein

  • you guys should still schmoe rate the classics

  • This movie is a classic. First saw it when I was about 8 and it still makes me laugh every time I see it. Great review, fellas!

  • Yes! Best spoof of the best trilogy of all time. Though I must say I'm also a fan of a lot of Mel Brooks movies (men in tights, blazing saddles, and so on). I've been watching Spaceballs about as long as I can remember. I also agree that it may be harder for the younger generation to be able to identify with the "old school" kind of humor it shows. I myself was only about 3 when it hit theaters and my age group probably bridges the gap on that.

  • "I am your fathers brothers uncles former roommate"

    "What does that make us"

    "absolutely nothing"

  • keep firing those reviews...assholes!!!

  • In 1999 when the Phantom Meance was released, apparently Spaceball saw a resurgence of video rentals to which Bill Pullman responded "Really? the force is more powerful than I realized.

  • 5 out of 5 schmoes for me. As a huge star wars geek, it is my favorite comedy of all time.

  • I am your father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate!

  • @parkerball35

So what does that make us?

  • i first watched this movie when i was 10 years old in 2005, and i still find it hilarious to this day.

  • @DjHamHam411 fashion comedy. Absoutly love this film and memorized a whole bunch of quotes. I remember when I was merely 4 years old and my parents let me watch it because my parents made me a star wars geek. Visual gags were the best. And there is no comparison to today's teenage comedies. (excluding a few) we've been jammed! Strawberry?

  • This is one of my all time favorite movies. A lot of Mel Brooks' movies are, but this one really is fantastic. I first saw it when I was probably ten and still love it, and showed it to my 14yo brother recently; he ended up loving it too.

  • Yes it defiantly still holds up to my standards of good ol

  • @Neith32 mine too! :3

  • i am thirteen and this is one of my favorite movies.

  • This and Robin Hood: Men in Tights are my two favorite Mel Brooks movies.

  • Im only 16 but when i was 12 i saved up weeks allowance to buy this on DVD and i saw at about 5 years old, LOVED IT

  • "I am your fathers brothers nephews cousins former roomate."

    "Whats that make us"

    "Absolutely Nothing"

  • I'm 16 now, saw it when I was around 12 and I still love every aspect of the movie.

  • oh spaceballs i use to watch this movie all the time i have to watch it again soon.

  • Spaceballs is one of the funniest comedies I've seen and is certainly the funniest parody I've ever seen. Hilarious!

  • WITHOUT A DOUBT SPACEBALLS IS TIMELESS! I'm 15 years old and I've grown up with that movie since I was what... 6 I guess? It's without a doubt the greatest parody/spoof movie ever made! Mel Brooks is the ONLY one qualified to make parodies! But no, what do we get these days... Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer shit. I wanna use the shartz to make those two disapear, that's for sure. Anyway, yes this movie is timeless... countless gags to the point that I don't think I can pick a favorite. =)

  • I have never seen it, I'll watch it this weekend. Looks hilarious!

  • I went on a 6-hour car ride with my friends and our car had a DVD player and one DVD-Spaceballs. Even though we had all seen it before, we watched it 4 times on that 12-hour round trip ride and still laughed at it the whole time! (Mostly at new jokes we didn't catch the first time around)

  • As long as it's not Friedberg/Seltzer level, I'll probably go look for it (I know, I haven't seen Spaceballs yet!!)

  • @TheMovielover1999 You are ahead of most in years duder

  • Spaceballs is probably my most favorite comedy ever!

  • oh spaceballs it still holds up

  • I am your fathers cousins nephews formers roomate

  • "We aint found shit" is my dads favorite line

  • @AustinPutnam We talked about it but we try to keep the reviews as clean as we can. We didn't want dirty asshole talk.

  • @AustinPutnam Were they sleeping?? I mean come on! Love that you dug it.

  • Yes! I'm so glad you guys reviewed this movie. I love this movie!

  • Sapceballs rocks, I seen this for the first time when I was 11 and laughed my ass off. The proper "father parody" line is "I'm your father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate". Anyone else know the subtle joke of that quote?

  • I will always remember, and die laughing, whenever someone mentions...

    LUDICROUS SPEED!

  • Im fiveteen, and i used to watch this when i was 6 and up, even watching it now, its so awesome so at least MY generation still likes it, aswell with the old star wars trilogy, instead of the crappy new one

  • Would you ever review Robin Hood Men In Tights? XD

  • I grew up in the wrong generation... the spoofs i got were the scary movies and all the other stupid spoofs that were made by the same group of idiots. Say what you want about Mel Brooks, the crap my generation came out with cant even compare.

Why couldn't i of grown up when Lucas and Spielberg were at there best? Sure great movies still come out of every generation, they just dont seem to have the same magic they used to.

  • "I knew it I'm surrounded by assholes"

  • The scene of seeing the Spaceballs ship is also spoofing the Jaws theme. Listen closely,

  • Spaceballs is my top most quoted movie ever

  • The only spoof film that beats "Spaceballs" is "Airplane".

  • Come on guys the proper quote is "I am your father's brother's sister's uncle's former roommate." "What does that make us?" "Absolutely nothing, which is what your going to be."

  • First let me tell you I'm one of the biggest Star Wars fans you'll ever know. That being said, I don't find this movie funny at all. To me this is just the 80's equivalent to Epic Movie or one of those other shitty spoof movies that have come out recently. People say it's good mainly because of nostalgia and because it's old.

  • u went over my helmet?

  • It does kind of beg the question...what movie gets a 5/5? I mean, you guys semmed to really enjoy this one (as did I), so it would seem that it deserves 5/5. Just curious

  • I was born in 1995. I remember when I was little (say 8 or 9), I saw Spaceballs for the first time in a Hotel. Do you have any idea how much I loved that movie? So yes, it does hold up for "newer" generations. It's a fantastic movie! It's awesome when a movie can be a parody yet also respectful to it's source material, and still hold it's own ground as an awesome film by itself and not haft to rely on the inside jokes (although it has so many of those.) 4/5

  • Spaceballs is soooo funny

  • I've seen Spaceballs about 10,000 times and it never gets old!

  • Watched it maybe 1-2 years ago, it's fucking awesome

  • I am your father's, nephew's, cousin's, brother's former roommate.

    What does that make us?

    ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!

  • @Schmoesknow you guys should review Blazing Saddles if you haven't seen it, see it. Its by mel brooks

  • This film is actually hilarious. I remember watching it for the first time when I was really young and being taken aback when they used the word 'fuck'. Seriously, though, such a classic spoof! I think it has to be the most quotable film ever... The "combing the desert" scene gets me everytime, so simple but absolute genius!

  • My favorite line from the movie is, "That's all we needed, a Druish princess."

  • I don't know how I always forgot to watch this movie...but now that you guys decided to review it then god damn may nothing stop me from watching it THIS weekend!

  • I feel bad because I have not responded in any significant way to a Mel Brooks movie. That said, it's been a long, long, long, long time since I've seen one, so maybe I need to go back and give his films another try with a fresh perspective. I remember seeing this movie a million years ago with my buddy Matt, and he loved it, and I just didn't respond to it. I realize I'm the one who sucks.

  • "I'm surrounded by assholes!"

  • I watched Spaceballs CONSTANTLY when I was a kid....and I hadn't even seen Star Wars yet. lol

  • I've seen Rick Moranis around New York at events.

  • It had its moments, but I found the jokes and the "yoda" pretty lame. Love Star wars though... Ghostbusters is much funnier

  • Pizza the Hut!

  • im 14 and i thought this movie was very funny. it still holds ups today

  • @moviesRmylife101 Glad to hear it

  • I'm not a big fan of Star Wars to tell you the truth, but I always enjoyed watching Spaceballs as a kid. Haven't seen it in probably 20 years. Must rent it now. A big shoutout to Michael Winslow who's also in this film.

  • @Mr96tears Yeah Winslow is great "We've been jammed sir."

  • I saw it a couple of years ago for the first time and didn't really enjoy it, thought the jokes were too obvious and juvenile. Although some of the best ones might have been ruined by other star wars parodies i've seen that had very similar gags but were probably made after.

  • @ethanflys That is exactly what I was wondering if some people would feel if they saw it too late

  • forgot how awesome this movie was. I seen it before I saw star wars and still found it hilarious.

  • @johnluvsluna Glad to hear it

  • Wow that is a first, you saw this before Star Wars? How was it watching Star Wars after seeing this?

  • Whilst I had never watched star wars I was aware of Vader and a few key Star Wars points. I understood Spaceballs was a parody but the comedy was heightened after seeing Star Wars. If I'm deeply honest I preferred Spaceballs to it's source material. I'm also odd in the fact that I saw all 6 star wars in their actual order starting with phantom menace. Maybe that's why I never LOVED it and to this day consider it fairly overrated. Although I'm not a Trekie I preferred it to Star Wars.

  • I first watched it when I was 15 and didn't really enjoy it. I watched it again two months ago (I'm 24 now) and still didn't like it. I got all the jokes and why they were supposed to be funny, but I found most of them juvenile, which overwhelmed the few great jokes. I may have enjoyed it more at an earlier age. My favorite spoof movie, to this day, is the first Austin Powers. Spaceballs probably had twice as many jokes but quality is better than quantity.

  • @quizdiet Hey I get that it is not everyone's cup of tea

  • I'm not from that generation but I watched this movie back in 2000 when I was 10 years old. I was in tears from laughter. This is a classic for me. I adore this film

  • @victorinoxfan Love to hear it.

  • Great film, got it right here on DVD

  • @mrjimmyos Watch it!

  • Oh, wow, 'Princess Bride' AND 'Spaceballs'? Two of my favourite comedies of the '80s. Next up, 'Ghostbusters' or 'Airplane'? :)

I guess I count as your generation; 23 years old? Not certain, but it definitely holds up watching it now. I still watch it and laugh.

  • @GoldenFlither15 Glad you love it, not sure what the next classic will be, oh wait! This just reminded me. ELLIS has never seen Shawshank Redemption and we mentioned this in the review but it was left out. That will most likely be next.

  • I'm 15 and I love this movie. This movie is timeless.

  • @jtark31 You are ahead of your time fine sir

  • Space balls is Hilarious

  • @superjumper19 Agreed jumper, agreed

  • Thousands of Star Wars spoofs?

  • @mattffx10 Including all the stuff on the web, sure

  • Spaceballs is one of my favorite movies. It's right up there with Deep Throat. Er.... I really wish I didn't say that out loud.... MONKEY!!!!!

  • @MeenyMcSweeny Well the good news is if you said it out loud, only you heard it but if you wrote it in schmoeville, oh wait..

  • This kind of comedy never dies.

  • @MrPignaton Glad you feel that way, obviously we do

  • I was born '91 and I love this movie. I grew up watching Star Wars (original trilogy) then the new movies came out. I think I saw this movie in grade 8 or 9 and me and all my friends loved it.

  • @DreamfallenOne There are parts that just make you laugh hard

  • Showed the movie to my boss who had never seen it, we watched it in 04', and he hated it. I personally still the movie, but for my boss it was just too dated. Best if watched in the 80's.

  • @ramesis55 He HATED it? Wow, I can see not getting the humor but man this movie does not deserve hate.

  • @schmoesknow He actually said that he was dumber for having watched it. For a guy who likes a good comedy I was surprised by his reaction. For him at least it was one of those "you had to be there" things.

  • yes this movie is awesome

  • I should check it out.

  • @BlazeTheMovieFan When you do, tell us if you felt it was dated

  • @schmoesknow Well, I'm not gonna tell you guys personally, but I will make a review if I watch the movie.

  • They've gone to plaid...

  • Hahaha, so many quotable lines in this film
