Hanoi remembers how our leaders refused to tell us the truth about the earlier North Vietnamese overtures for peace, how the president claimed that none existed when they had clearly been made. Ho Chi Minh has watched as America has spoken of peace and built up its forces, and now he has surely heard the increasing international rumors of American plans for an invasion of the North. He knows the bombing and shelling and mining we are doing are part of traditional pre-invasion strategy. -MLK '67
Practically what is required now is to stop any action before the November election (in 9 mths)
1)A counter propaganda required to inform that all this war mongering is simply to wind up the US electorate to vote in a Republican President in November ie the Democrats in the US should wake up!!
2)The US presidential candidates should make it clear that Bush/Cheney have no right to make ANY decision - the American people will make a decision in NOVEMBER!
Yes your absolutely right! they are not even eager to die....But when the Iran start shooting back at them...they will see that they can aim also...One thing is to shoot at someone and another thing is when someone can shoot back!
Most Americans I've met don't know anything beyond their borders, but then again most who have been in the UN coalition of '90 of course are poor boys fighting a rich mans war. This is why I respect officers but its only a handful in the US military.
agreed. So tell them to start drilling in Alaska (oil is found there, and those that are informed don't know why it's not being pumped yet)
The war isn't just about oil, and compared to what is being spent on the war, the price of oil will not go down. That isn't even touching on the subject of the Federal Reserve printing money, making it worth less and less every day. Prices may not rise, but if your dollar buys less, is it not the same result?
I know of some Iranians who in the beginning of the occupation of Iraq used to support an invasion of Iran (yes, some people can't help being stupid!) but none of those would say that now. In fact, support for Iran's present government has increased phenomenally; no sane Iranian would like to see their country destroyed like Iraq.
australia is considering nuclear power i was thinking to myself how is america going to deal with this problem and if they choose not to then shouldnt they also let iran have nuclear power as they have done with pakistan n.korea etc
Right! It's scary!! And in NZ, it's predicted there will be a HUGE oil strike in the Great South Basin. That'll make us a very attractive plum for Halliburton/Carlyle/Dyncorp - oops! I mean the US Federal Governemt...!
thx panic, its heartening to hear top level officials who not only advise diplomacy BUT who are also thoroughly disenchanted with this admin and are acutely aware of its machinations. i point also to Lt.col. paul yingling ACTIVE SERVICE who authored an article 'failure in generalship' found here: armedforesjournal
War allows for carte blanc spending by government. Plus it creates a huge number of security status positions, that then come on board. It is sad that the unfortunate fallen and family are then used for propaganda purposes. In 1970 the first big NH3NO3 diesel bomb was set off at UW by some US citizens. The Viet Nam War was a for profit war with its own version of 911. War is for "sacrificing" low status and profiting high status.
Well once you are informed. You may have to do something/action about it.Ignorance for many is bliss. Some want to just find a happy place and sleep. They will be awaken by the bombs of reality.
War is a racket! A riot is spontaneous outburst. A war is subject to advance planning. Great speech, thx poster!

Ain't got anything to do with nukes. It's all in the PNAC plans, the quest for world dominance.

Well said... it is somewhat reliving to hear that logics are still alive within some in the US.

I like the part about ignorance of the common American. It is unfortunate, but true, how unaware the public actually is about political issues!!!
