  • lol my curves signal went from 4 to 5 bars when i did this.

  • What a bunch of crap!! Apple messed up, and you fanboys kept buying those defective phones anyway, and they are still defective. So now some kind of quest to level the playing field with Blackberry? Well I guess if you are going to attack, go for the leader.

  • How much did Steve pay you ? :o

  • Did this on my 9650 and SIGNAL WENT UP LOL.

  • WTF! i did this to y bold 9700 and my signal went up

  • Where can we get that wallpaper??

  • nice wallpaper... where did u get it?

  • Your video illustrates the issue better than the video I posted. I love my iPhone 4 and really don't like my Blackberry Bold 9650!

  • Consumer Reports is a bribed con people... Microsoft obviously sent them an anonymous donation in the name of MR.Bill SHow for $100 million or so to make the hit on Apple and not ever deem XBROKE 2 defective, it's a con. Human cattle pull your heads out of your assholes.

  • Sorry but Apple, just move on. You should have realised this earlier but the fact the consumers had figured it out the hard way is just wrong. I've seen Apple's test on the N97 and that is just sad, their picking on other companies for their mistake. Why people complained about the N97 signal drop? Because people don't choke their phones like that.

  • how much money pay you S Jobs?

  • r u buy this fhone?? if thats right give me ur number

  • this is bullshit. had they of not been dumbasses and record for another couple of seconds they would of seen that the signal would of gone up. the OS detects the drop in signal and then boosts power to the antenna. stupid BGR.

  • yes, covering the antenna will make you lose signal, and this does happen on ALL phones. What people are upset by is the bad placement of the antenna on the Iphone. I'm not picking on the Iphone, Blackberry did it as well. There are much better places to put the antenna, not somewhere like the side of the phone that a lot of people are going to be touching. The difference is that Apple makes a HUGE deal out of the iphone... people were standing in line waiting for it, and they screwed it up

  • Thank you for posting this. Let's see if the mainstream media picks up on it. I seriously doubt they will. There's a really interesting post earlier in Feb about the Nexus One having this problem and, of course, no mainstream media picked it up. I have an iPhone 4 without a case, and in weak signal areas, it drops a couple bars, but it has not dropped a call, yet. I get reception in areas I never could with my 3GS. Apple improved reception, and then gets dinged for it.

  • T-Mobile Blackberry 8900 Curve.

In left hand held lightly, 5 bars. In death grip, 3 bars. Returns to 5 after a couple of seconds.

In right hand, 5 bars held lightly. but it does not need a death grip to drop to 2 or 1 bar. All that's required is to be touching the metallic band in one of the lower corners, especially the lower right corner. It returns to five bars in a couple of seconds.

The lower corners of the metal band are the key, especially the lower right corner.

  • I tried this on my Bold 9000 and I still had 5 bars... I even smothered the phone with both hands and squeezed to the point I felt the screen was gonna break... NOTHING. I'm on ATT btw

  • I just tried this with my friend's blackberry, it worked!

  • The bold 9700 is still the best

  • Apple Just released a whole bunch of these videos on multiple phones , and i tried it on my dad droid and it dropped 3 bars soooo you verizon droid fanboys can suck dick ha no more complaining !!!! lmao!!!!!

  • ROFL, nice try. But where's the footage AFTER you released the phone. Did the signal return to 'normal' ? That could be environmental conditions like the weather, plane, train, etc.

I held my BB 9700 and my Nokia E72 with BOTH hands. NO BARS DROPPED!

Only apple retards would buy your bias, they're the only ones who'll get impressed with outside appearances.

  • @s3nr1 My god man! The freaking video is right in front of your face and your hatred of apple is so blinding that your making excuses! Face it, antennas lose signal when you cover them with your hand it happens on ALL PHONES.

  • @s3nr1 That goes with the iphone 4 as well.... not everyone iphone 4 drop signal when held a certain way. like you just mention yours don't drop signal, but some else phone might.

  • @s3nr1 you know that the iphone has a A4 chip right?

  • @modernflyboy the A4 chip is actually made by Samsung

  • @i5145 i know that and my comment did not state anything about who made the a4 chip or not. you know that the retina display is manufactured by LG.

  • Did i see zero bars? NOPE

  • @Smitty6123 The 5-0 bars on the iPhone is because the formula they used was anything over -99dB signal while -51dB would be standing at a cell tower. Signal drop occurs around -113dB. So you only need a drop of around 14dB to go from 5 bars to disconnected call. The formula is far from correct and it was fixed near the end of last week.

  • @Smitty6123 Just like the iPhone!

  • How much did apple pay you to do this BGR? You nasty apple fanboys.

  • @hyedipin They are just showing a real phenomenon. It's not something that is made up.

  • @hyedipin

you fail droid fanboy! looks like iphone 4 is # 1 again bitch peace !!

  • What am I supposed to be looking for? I know about the iPhone death grip, but can't seen anything going on onscreen here. Is the big icon in the centre supposed to

  • @grannybuttons The number of bars in the top right corner drops when held.

  • #oops

  • yup, happens on my blackberry storm 1 as well, which i plan on replacing with an iphone 4 this month!

  • Steve was right! HAHA

  • I did the same thing to my sister-in-law's Blackberry 9700 just yesterday. I love Blackberry, I owned a Pearl that was awesome, but it's annoying how everyone is picking on Apple just because they make great products other companies are always scrambling to copy.

  • @mainshane12 Other companies don't have to copy the iPhone. The people who manufacture them in Taiwan do it for them, selling them on eBay for $80 lol

  • "Death Grip"? Does it cause dropped calls? Did it go to zero bars? No? Okay.

  • @KnightMD Because it's calculating a proper set of bars based off the dB strength of the signal. The iPhone was not and that was fixed last Friday. Unless you think a drop of 14dB should be the difference between 5 bars and a disconnected call.

  • I can make my Storm2 lose some bars and still never lose the voice/data connection, unlike on the iPhone 4.

  • I dont think that was a death grip.. all my BB's always drop signal a bit when fetching some sort of data or what not.

  • Death !

  • wow..
