Lets clear this up. The war in Iraq is NOT about oil. If the States wanted oil, Osama Bin Laden was associated alot with Saudi Arabia. Also up north here in Canada we have the SECOND most oil in the world (saudi arabia is #1) so why not get oil somewhere a little more friendly? Also, how easy do you think it is to set up oil refineries in Iraq? The reason is that they honestly thought that WMDs were there. And they possibly were there too but are long gone now so it doesnt matter.

I said this before long before 9/11 took place. I have friends who are ex-military. They are not Americans. They are hired by the US Govt. to carry out 'Peace keeping' roles. These 'Peace keepers' were being trained 9mths prior to 9/11 for insertion into Iraq. In fact they were there 3weeks prior working as hired contractors doing security work. Give you 1 guess where? Who loans the money - which the private central bankers create out of thin air - required to fight these wars? Why did Iraq and Afghanistan get new currency after the invasions? Who issues it? I think you point out something very important, but you fall a bit short in drawing the right conclusions. History has indeed shown that progress involves sacrifices, but whose progress is it? Or rather, who profits from it? And who suffers? Rich white males at the top profit the most. Greenspan is making a point but not revealing the full hidden agenda of the players of the federal reserve. The fed has always had interest in wars for with war the government loans from the fed increases as does the productivity in the society, which is old "war economy" thinking. It seems Greenspan puts the finger on the oil, which is accurate, but forgets that the banking families and their agendas are guilty as well.

No, I haven't. At the core socialism is an economic system (capital and means of production belong to the people), democracy is a political system (vote, participate in decisions and question the government). People mix the two because they love to put labels on people (it is easy to attack them if you put labels). THe war was about oil but in my opinion all of americas efforts in the middle east are about a global economy, with oil running out stablization of the middle east will be had at any cost in order to keep the us dollar alive.

No one is advocating removing all fossil fuel TODAY. Obviously it would be gradual. That isn't even the point. The point is that things aren't being done to implement other forms of fuel BECAUSE of certain corporations that have the power to stop it from happening.

This conversation is turning out to be ridiculous. The fact that college professors are above and beyond in the realm of education would generally dispell the notion that they are "idiots". It seems like it really troubles you that those who are the most highly educated generally have differing viewpoints from those of yourself. Hmm...but I guess the idea that makes the most sense (or suits your particular emotional need) is that education and science generally mean nothing.

No one forbids questioning a scientists. It does however, become lunacy to stick your head in the sand and sing loudly when 99% of all scientists, who happen to be our experts in the field, are demonstrating findings. It's not like they are sitting around and conspiring to piss off the rednecks--they are actually doing 'stuff' that you and I can't completely understand without being educated enough.

One benefit of Islamic law is that if it is implemented there will be no poor people in the world. According to a survey if today USA pay their charity as per Islamic law there will be no poor in Africa by tomorrow and USA will not be poor.
Look at the gap between the rich and the poor in today's world. The rich get richer and eventually controls the decisions of the governments to gain more profit.
