  • Adorable.

I've had adults in the trees in my backyard keep me up at night making all kinds of noises. One night a while back there was a pair up there making a racket that was unreal. Went outside to see what was going on and I couldn't be sure if it was a male trying to catch a female or if it was a fight getting ready to happen in the trees. Just about drove me insane.

Had a young one visiting late in the afternoon for several days in a row. Haven't seen it in a while.

  • Around here they usually mate in January or so. They do make *horrible* noises....I always feel so sorry for the females!!! They are born sometime in March & start making appearances early in June. The little babies are so much fun to watch! Adults are entertaining too. :)

  • @CanItAlready Something similar happened to me. Something woke me but being half asleep wasn't sure of the sounds [2am] so went out to investigate. Lived in the woods. About 35 trees in back yard. Looked around and finally looked up and there they were. Trees FULL of raccoons all looking down at me. Could see all those eyes shining from the flashlight. It was a sight to behold.

  • @lovethe1wolves ... the only time we ever see lots of them up in the trees is if something scared them, like a coyote or a dog. I bet that was quite a sight!

  • @raccoonhaven It was.

  • I heard something outside the other night (Eastern Ontario Canada) that didn't sound like a bird or human. Grabbed the flashlight and discovered a baby raccoon on my neighbour's walkway. It was VERY loud and sounded more like a multi tone whistle like at the end of this video. It started coming at me, and I bolted. I think it had separated from its mother.

  • omg how cute!! <3 o_o I so want a raccoon now!

  • we had one of those in our backyard like i mean it was a baby and it was that size and my mom got reall close and it HISSED and it was trying to bite. it was horrible. and we think it had a broken leg so we called the humane society to come get it but poor thing.

  • Aww I miss hearing these noises outside my window. *sigh*

  • It is a sweet sound, isn't it!

  • Yep! I miss mine! I have some vids of them too. There were 5 babies that'd come to my house with their mom. I miss their mischeviousness hahaha.

  • If you'll scroll down thru my videos, you'll find two more raccoon ones. Hope you enjoy :) We feed them dogfood & sometimes table scraps. We don't have trash pickup, so that's not an issue. I no longer have potted plants outside (that WAS an issue). We feed them year round & keep a little swimming pool filled with water for them to drink.

  • Awe! He's so cute! You gotta admit raccoons sure are cute when they're small little babies!

  • Thanks! We love the grown ones two, but always look forward to the babies each year.

  • Really? How do you deal with adult raccoons?
