When you get the Ski Jump right, it was exhilarating. Amazing, considering the lack of textures and low polygons, but it still conveyed an immense feeling of height.

@bign3ck I m in love with the ST sound ( I was used to play on aST) but i have never listen to the amiga quality before, and the difference is stunning - oh and +1 for a 2010 remix of that crazy old school game
i had the Amiga version, wow the sound was shit on the ST, still this game was amazing back in the day, it was the first game that gave me vertigo, I WANT A XBLA/PSN REMAKE, PLEASE SOMEONE, ANYONE.
I played that game a lot! Came with a 5 compilation pack called Virtual Reality or something, along with Midwinter. NIce nostalgia trip, but oh, the frame rate!
It was not a piece of crap. I've heard once in the past a very wise sentence: "it is not important what computer you have, it is not about which one is better, it is about you and the things you're able to do with your computer". I agree with this in 100% for last 20 years. From this perspective my Atari ST was a great machine.
To be honest - this game is more fluent on ST than on Amiga. The difference is noticable. ST was usually better in vector based games.
You're absolutely right. Another example is the game "Virus", which runs smoother on the ST as well. But most games looked (and sounded) a bit better on Amiga, but they were both great machines. Not to forget the C=64, but that's another story... ;=)
I remember this was one of the first game I ever played where you could play with 2 computers hooked up and networked together. Me and my Dad would play this all the time.
The sound is not too bad. On Amiga there was a kind of sampled sound, but in fact it wasn't too cool, as it could be. I perferred the st version. It also seems to be a little more responsive or smoother than the Amiga one. But it was the game, which gives a lot of fun when you connected st to st or st to Amiga. Another one, which comes to my mind was F16 Falcon - we've been connecting ST and Amiga to play these games. Yeah! ;-) Nice.
I'm not so certain the sound quality is awful as such, the 'loop' which could usually be heard quite clearly in most digitised sound samples on the Amiga always bothered me, a lot! the ST version ran a lot faster and more smoothly than the Amiga version aswell, I know, I had (well, still have!) both machines.
Ahh, good old days :) I may go and dust them off and get beaten on SCR by the computer for a bit!
Sound may be "awful" but the visuals are clearer. Atari st sound had its charms though, as did the amiga. If the amiga wasn't around, then the atari sound is just great.
Its a shame the atari and amiga weren't just ONE computer, no more "better" versions, just awesome versions :D
Man , we held competitions with lots of beer , a null modem cable , 2 tv's and 2 Atari st's linked together .
The big ramp , little ramp , stepping stones , ski jump and draw bridge , man i really adored this game .
When you finished the single player against the computer you advanced to the Super league and that made the game a lot faster and more smooth looking .
...But it beat the PCs back then. While the Atari ST chip had THREE Noise channels, the PC had only one meep channel on its chip. I think the PC chips are lamer than the ATARI chips (not talking about PC cards here, I'm talking about the actuall chip that gives off a MEEP at startup).

I loved my years spent with the ST and some of the great games like Oids and Super Sprint
It was a piece of crap of course compared to the might that was the Amiga but i still have very fond memories of this delightfull machine
Stunt Car was a much superior experience on Amiga thanks to the realistic sound but this version is essentially the same otherwise

Well, yeah. The Amiga had something extra in its sound chip. I believe it was a SID voice where the sound could be modulated...
