Technically, my fellow author of this video, the song was done as a promotion to the game in Japan and France (they did their own version!). As to finish off my comment here, THE SONG OUTSOLD THE ORIGINAL GAME.

That's probably why Ai no Uta was included as an easter egg in Pikmin 2 when you gather 20 of each type of Pikmin together...
