I'm a 14 years old girl and I would like to apologise, for the music my generation listens to and ruins all big radio stations. Amazing, beautiful, true music...
I can not, in words, or even in some kind of intelligent motion or thought, describe the feeling that all of Debussy's music creates in me. There is simply no created word that can be thought or uttered aloud in any language that I know of that describes the internal "thing" that happens when I listen to his (Debussy's) music.
This was written by Debussy before the development of his unique impressionist style, and is closer to romantic-era music style. Just thought that I might want to mention it.
unlike one of the top comments ,its not my little hands but my little brain that can't reach the complexities....seriously I love many different types of music but Debussy moves me like little else.
What is the name of the song where in the beginning the piano is playing really fast---it's very romantic in nature? It's a default tone that comes with keyboards.
@Famfriass I believe the piece you're thinking of is the "Fantasie Impromptu", Chopin's Op. 66 that has some very dramatic opening runs juxtaposed with some more reverent melodic passages. It comes as a default song on just about every electronic keyboard.
Those who wish for similar music, the spanish dances are emotional, with varied timing, just like this. Granados, Albeniz, Leucuona, etc... This music is alive, and has my heart. Reflects reality.
@heyedmond As well as Ravel and Satie and the like, I'd recommend a chap called André Caplet. Listen to 'Reverie et Petit Valse', 'Le Conte Fantastique' and 'Viens! Une Flûte Invisible Soupire'. This applies to anyone looking for similar music to Debussy; he was a close friend of Debussy's, and helped him orchestrate some of his pieces. Brilliant composer in his own right too, though less well-known. 'Le Miroir de Jésus' is also well worth a listen, if you have the time. Hope this helps :)
how do you do 0:33 - 0:37 smoothly? i understand that they are triplets but i seems to be accenting the chords by accident :( and the fingering in the left hand isn't helping =/
wow..Someone must do a version for vibraphone. Première Arabesque, Clair de Lune and La Rêverie can be played on vibraphone. It is wonderful to play Debussy when you are not even a pianist.
