Had to work a weekend in the 90's at Grand Forks for the Time to Climb records for the B1. Not hard to beat as most were for airliners in that weigh class. Broke speed of sound several times
heh...I worked DAS at GF 87-93. Was in homestead when y'all did this. I remember hearing about how the ACUs really, really didn't want to fly that high. :-)
Still remember messing with the Andrews folks on the CONUS circumnavigation. That was funny as hell.
Dumbass..you don't like, don't watch! Go back to your puttering 4 cylinder rice burner with NITRO!!! and a weedeater muffler and let the real men play with the big toys.
that was my jet i used to crew :), 5073 the Dark Kight, i miss my baby, i remember launching it off to edwards from hill for all those records it broke
I loved flying it, its a dream to fly, handles like the T-38 with a slower roll rate, and twice the thrust. The records are mostly time to climb for weight class and closed circuit records. The impressive part about the Bone is its ability to sustain the speed it can with the weight it can carry.
thank God for afterburners!!!
