I am so glad they picked Jon Cryer for the Alan character - that guy is fantastic!

Although Berta and Jake have good one liners, Alan really carries a lot of the acting on the show.

I read that the studio did not want Cryer as he had a couple failed shows, but Charlie Sheen worked with him briefly on some movie (Hot Shots) and recommended him.

He and Marin Hinkle (Judith), who is a good actress IMO, are good friends and he worked with her on the movie Weather Girl.

But it would've been even better if Alan hadn't gotten back with Judith .It's like he ignored the fact that she meddled in his relationship with Kandi with cruel intent and later when Alan and Kandi divorced, gave her the divorce lawyer she used to screw him over even more.Judith deserved that completely.
