For the people who subconsciously hate comedy, I'll explain why KOTH is better than Family Guy:

Family Guy's formula is to be as random as possible, just for the sake of being random. There's no basis for, or buildup to any of its jokes. KOTH on the other hand, is strictly character-based and situational comedy, with southern stereotypes (something you'd have to have prior knowledge of) thrown in. If you "don't get" KOTH but find Family Guy hilarious, chances are you're some sort of idiot.

I never got what was so funny about King of the Hill. I always thought it was weird that it was made by Mike Judge, who made Beavis and Butthead, which I loved as a kid. Maybe it just went over my head or something, but the only part I found funny were Hank's friends.

King of the Hill actually was awesome. I like Family Guy but the thing is, King of the Hill was better for these reasons. One, the father, the main character, actually had intelligence and was the smartest guy on the show. And at least on the clips, you don't go everywhere and see arguments about Atheist vs Christianity. I mean, King of the Hill never overstepped that boundary. It's just that King of the Hill was the smartest show on Fox. I like The Simpsons and American Dad, but KOTH is uber.

Look, in the Seth Mcfarlene universe, there are the fathers who are idiots and above all, ridiculous. Except Stan Smith. He's actually 10x smarter than Peter and Cleveland. Lois and Donna are cool, but Francine's more of cool mother and hot woman. King of the Hill had an actual plot and characters which were intended to be generally likeable despite various flaws. In this, it's a lot like The Simpsons with less zaniness but a similar moral flow to each episode. Mike Judge initially wanted Hank to be angrier, stupider and less friendly overall, a la the Tom Anderson character from Beavis and Butthead. It was writer Greg Daniels who insisted on writing plots that didn't insult the viewer and rounded off everyone's hard edges over time.
