@Nazteh Nah, the pigeon dodged the falcon. It stalled and fell just as the falcon closed in. if it was hit, the falcon would have carried the bird with him/her. But not all of them do dodge falcons. Some of em dont see them, or are just too slow.

pigeons can beat (run away from) a peregrine because, as its natural prey, it adapted to fighting off peregrines. even so, i can't believe how you can see the speeding bullet that the peregrine falcon is.

Oh and in this video, the peregrine gained in from the side. if it were a dive, the pigeon wouldn't know what hit it, and neither would we :P

I once had a serb high fly pigeon that is slower then a racing pigeon as the breed is not meant for that kind of flying but 3 times got away from a peregrine on the dive. A lot like in the video it would stall it's wings but my bird kept doing it and folding it's wings on the dive.

Pigeons are alot like people, I have some that are really smart and can't out smart some hawks by some crazy flying tricks mid air and some of the dumb ones stay right there & let the hawks catch them .....During hawk season I let them stay in their loft and wait until spring time when most disappear for the season for breeding purposes

One of my red bar pigeons flew directly @ a Falcon and dropped right in front of him, I think he was stunned that this pigeon was flying toward him and out smarted him, And I know my pigeon seen him coming @ her because she was on top of my loft when she took off really fast toward him and she came back a few minutes later and look freightened...but still alive...That's the 2nd time the 1st time she out flew a Coopers Hawk...

One of my fantail doves once did that. The same one keeps on dodging peregrines. A sparrowhawk once failed when the pigeon flew straight into its loft throught these small holes and the sparrowhawk tried and failed. It died :(

Fucking peregrines. If pigeons had hooked beaks or sharp talons, those peregrines would have to "think" three times before attacking pigeons. However, if pigeons were smarter they could committ flock attacks at peregines nests to kill them all. Sounds silly, but this is how I'd like things to change :) LOL
