  • What the hell

  • zzzZZZZzzzzZZZZzzzz...

  • Fuck this guy

  • If you guys are so smart compared with him, why are you watching a video called "how to play banjo chords?"

This video is what it is. Now you pretentious posers can go back to jammin' with Earl Scruggs (err.. you do know who Earl is, don't you?)

  • Isnt hea wearing the finger picks wrong?

  • @DinoDyl no, hes wearing them right.

  • Thanks for the slow pace and taking the time to make helpful video.

  • Comment removed

  • Этот эксперт - такой "эксперт"))))))))))

  • yawn

  • Thanks for the vid. Well done. This would have been hard write on a paper.

  • I thought a common proper Banjo only had 3 strings?

  • @BloodTal0n no,most banjos are five some are three, four and six but most common banjos are five strings

  • He actually needs fingerpicks....

  • I don't even play Banjo and I can tell that someone needs to tune his instrument.

  • OMG!!! A new Einsten!! :O

  • yes.. very good mr teach.... the second fret DOES come after the first one... jeez he's like uuhhhh..... the second fret?

  • that was deep... i really learned a lot... i think im gonna go play little lion man now xD

  • expert village sux ass

  • good chords dumbass... c major and d7 ??? why the fuck did you give me only 2 chords?

  • I have Mom's tenor banjo from her college days in 1927.

I had it restored but never to the point that I wanted to play it :)

  • how many strings is it on that banjo?

  • How do you strum? Where can I find chords? This video is useless

  • so what is the basic tuning of banjo ? I just bought a 20-year old one and it sucks for now =)

  • AFTER THIS AMAAAAZIN VID I CAN PLAY BANJO LIKE THIS EXPERT xDD

  • Friendly tip:Don't watch this.Strum with your wrist!Same with guitars.Just try doing every note on every bar(both guitars and banjos)until you get the hang of it.Then make small rythms, and eventually you'll play as good as Aaron Johnson did on Nowhere Boy :)

  • Holy useless video batman!

  • as usual with "expert" village this video sucks! Please change your name to wasteoftimevillage and shut down your account!

  • I hate those commercials, kut reclame..

  • If you have a passion for learning banjo this will change your mind in a hurry. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • wow way to show 3 chords. actually two, g doesnt count because you dont do shit

  • wow i just fell asleep

  • trust the guy with the insane redneck accent to be givin banjo lessons over youtube

  • Not much use if we can't see what he's doing with his left hand.....do we strum/pluck all the strings or just the ones we depress as he showed us.

  • 0:00 to skip the advertisement

  • noob village

  • @MRmattconnell the only reason they have as many subs as they do is becasue of 130k plus videos..... theres no way you could ever watch em all from start to finish lol

  • THis guy can't beat grandpa jones :D

  • @jackass311 It could be that he has never tried teaching anyone the banjo.

  • expert village...you suck

  • is a banjo eadg? or i dont know how it works cos it has that half string going on as well, yeah whats up with that?

  • what sux about expert villiage is the fact that they always take about 1 minute and say very little that helps xP

  • @DodgeCompany They do this to ensure that we see as many advertisements as possible.

  • Here's an idea. Since you guys are grabbing advertising money why don't you take some of it and drop some graphics up there that show the frets and finger positioning. You know, like in every other 'learn to play' book?

Can I be an expert on how to run Expert Village?

  • i gotthe same banjo as that

  • lol

  • I'm new at the banjo too. I don't know when I should be playing a chord on the sheet music. How do you know what a chord looks like. Is that confusing LOL

  • @evansco2 A chord will be 2 or more Notes placed on top of one another. meaning to play all the strings at one time.. or if it wants you to rake them(i dont know banjo lingo so if its not called rake i'm sorry) it will indicate if you need to use a certain articulation

  • expert village has people who know nothing about anything, youtube should just shut them down

  • This video is: boring, unprofessional, uninformative, and just generally bad

  • wow, this is soooooooo bad.

Thanks again expert village for sucking it hard

  • rock and roll! this guy knows how to party

  • i would like this guy to be wearing overalls

  • this makes me want to buy a banjo so bad

  • @Joemamma69000 I got that so I went down the shop and bought one

  • I'm quite convinced that 'expert village' is really an elaborate p***take and that someone's having a good old laugh somewhere. And to think that this video came up alongside Janet Davis Banjo Backup videos...pearls and swine...

  • I lost the will to live at the "G" open chord zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • @aa209999 go work at guitar center

  • yes charlotte, but ask jeeves is bald.

  • ur ... next finger...

    haha, nice vid still

  • @Dutchown hahah that made me laugh too. I was trying to help him out, I was like "..middle finger..." but he couldn't hear me.

  • Yeah, poor guy... Well I guess you just shouldn't teach when you don't know more than 3 chords (or the name of the finger between your index- and ringfinger..)

  • God bless Wikipedia : )

  • Cool vids. - i too love the sound of a banjo, - I play guitar, bass, piano - so can play 'em, but need to learn more chords too! - to anyone who has never picked up a banjo, they are really damn heavy! - because of the structure of the 'ring' body part - surprised me when I picked one up - I believe banjos came from Africa originally & have become such an integral part of so much classic american folk, blues related types of music - interesting eh?

  • ANAAAANND????

  • Rofl, I get voted down for the truth because people see "african slaves" and react with an "omg it's racism!" mentality.

    Fucking morons.

  • the banjo is an instrument adapted by slaves based on the instruments played in Africa.

  • The banjo ( and harmonica) actually orriginated from Africa and the slave that were brought over made instruments that were similair to those of their homeland

  • right... except for all the others.

Besides the obvious ridiculousness of this statement, you are aware europeans didn't "invent" north america yeah?

  • yes he is

  • i love the sound of a banjo.

so relaxing, and so fun at the same time

  • i agree :)

  • haha! right, thats what i meant xD

  • i played a banjo for the first time today. found it easy enough cause i play the fiddle too. i don;t know chords though. still, i can play most of the stuff i play on the fiddle :)

  • Paul McCartneys dad played banjo.... he taught Paul to play banjo chords on a guitar

  • i'm 15 and i've been playing the guitar for 5 years and i picked up my dad's old banjo, changed the strings, tuned it and learned 2 new songs in under an hour. i love the banjo! :]

  • if you think banjos are gay then why are you watching this tutorial?

  • what kind of banjo should you buy? a resonator or a an open back banjo or a long neck...????

  • wtf... it IS in tune retard.

  • whoaa I didn't know you were so touchy on the subject. I wasn't accusing anybody of any thing.

  • dr.[hill teaches banjo!

  • thank you

  • i played the banjo before the guitar, advice ot anyone, start with the guitar!!! will make it soo much easier

  • really? I've played guitar and bass for ten years and mandolin do you think it will take long to pick up a banjo.

Watching tutorials it seems to be more about right hand picking technique, am I right in assuming this? Like based around rolls?

  • i've been playing guitar over 10 year and just got a banjo 2 weeks ago today. I got the book "banjo primer" by Geoff Hohwald and got 4 songs down solid. I practiced 5 hours a day for the first 4 days though, It's a beginner book that teaches rolls and songs and sounds seems very well laid out . I practied some rolls i found on the internet on my acoustic for a week with no finger picks before i got my banjo. I got the deering goodtime off ebay and it sounds great and stays in tune for days.

  • Same thing for me! I'm visiting South West City, Missouri and decided to learn banjo and picked up that same book. Would you say you need finger picks because I don't really need them from playing guitar.

  • you need the finger picks for sure. It's fun to use them, it's very different than guitar, getting the hang of them on the banjo won't work on the guitar.

  • How expensive was your banjo?

  • 180 plus 20 for shipping

  • i wanta learn banjo only first i gota get a banjo

  • do you already know how to play the guitar? i don't know how to play either and im just wondering which one i should start with

  • im learning guitar i would think guitar would be beter to start but i dont know

  • kk thanks for your thoughts

i think i'll start with guitar

  • which one do u like more?

  • Its still hard

    my fingers are fat

  • Hehe

  • im sorry for my rude comment

  • brianalbright, how did you end up here--that's what I'd like to know. Did you misspell "handjob"?

  • i do and im persian, you got a problem?

  • I play the banjo and its actually a beautiful and interesting instrument! So I and many others fuck the banjo. Wait, that didn't make sense.

  • Very well done, you make it so easy to follow. Clear simple and done in stages.

    Thank You.

  • you reckon it's hard to play the banjo?

  • where can I hear the standard tuning of a banjo?

and when you buy a banjo in a music store, does it matter how many strings there are on it?

  • dude thats just sooo wrong. Apologize!
