@mickellemastra You can combine keys and x-y on the mouse to get a very controllable flight experience. See Some of my other flying videos which are all made using a keyboard and mouse.
@jackpwnage117 Arma2 uses alot of small file access reads during the game. USB flash drives with fast read access have helped my game performance when using Readyboost in windows 7. Its like adding ram. You can even attach the pagefile to one of those drives. I currently have two Flashdrives in use and one has my page file on it.
@CokemanChatt So instead of disabling should I use a ramdisk or should I use flash drives? Idk page file slows computer down cuz of fragmenting and i dont know if it will slow it down with readyboost. I have superfetch and prefetcher disabled cuz its a waste of resources for gaming but that disables readyboost
@jackpwnage117 Use Ramdisk if you have the software and enough Ram. I currently have windows manage the Pagefile and I use a couple of flashdrives that offer a combine total of 11 gig of ReadyBoost flash memory. It could be better but for now I'm happy with the performance.
@CokemanChatt Okay, well I don't know if you remember me but I used to have 4gb of ram, (2 sticks of 2gb) well, for my birthday which just passed (july 22) i got 8gb of good kingston hyperx 1600mhz ram :) my old ram is only like 800mhz but its k, if i combine 8gb and 4 gb i get 12 and thats enough to fit the whole folder of arma in my drive so yeah. Now, will this increase my fps compared to no page file and/or page file on? Oh and thx for help.
@jackpwnage117 I hate to use up my ram for one game. The game after latest patches will use more ram without going to pagefile. An SSD 40 gig drive for the game would be a better use of money. Or better yet get more video ram by purchasing a two gig video card like the hd.6950. Its your Ram though. I'm always changing out addons for preference. My current arma 2 folder is 54 gigabytes LOL
@jackpwnage117 I just turned off the pagefile again because of crappy page file performance. The play got alot better and my system used 77% of the ram. Windows kept warning me but i ignored. The game never shut down even with the interruption. So I need more Ram. How is yours with ram?
Try the no Pagefile for arma 2 and let me know, curious.
@CokemanChatt I was playing OA Zargaban map with 6000 view distance and a custom mission. The mission is exactly like this one I made a video on Chernarus but I made it for the other map. " One of infinite ways to play Arma 2"
@CokemanChatt Hey! Thanks for friend request Try this out also I did research today, disable superfetch and page file supposedly it helps better, also 2 things, 1. I also heard you need to defrag to see a even bigger increase in performance, and 2 def smoother when i tried, I say you disable some services and backround programs, and I have 12gb ddr3 ram but im pretty sure ramdisk isnt as good cuz u need a page file and it takes too long and slows ur normal comp down.
@jackpwnage117 You have plenty of fast Ram. If I were you I would disable page file and super fetch if that helps more. Your right about defragmenting harddrive . In this case it would speed up initial load of data into ram. Then the ram would stream the data from there and hopefully not need to re access the hard disk. Ramdisk to me is redundancy; like putting a pagefile onto ram???
@jackpwnage117 Also wondering How many addons affect performance. I know certain one's really affect performance while others not as much for what they offer to the game. It is a trial and error experiment of preference vs performance. I need to clean out my closet of addons. Downside is if you create a mission with a certain addon you will need it to play it or even edit it back out unless you open mission folder in my docs and manually edit the text for the addon.
@jackpwnage117 No. It was an experiment. Not all games like no pagefile. Later game patches allow for more ram usage. I use usb flash drives with Readyboost on windows 7. I now have two 5770's in crossfire as well. I don't have enough ram for Ramdrive. I change my view distance on the fly in the game. I don't use highest 3d settings either. I'm happy with current settings. When I upgrade it will be SSD drive and I'll place all Arma 2OA addons on that drive.

And where to find an offline mission like this to practice?
mickellemastra 2 months ago
@mickellemastra Just open the editor place a littlebird on the map name it, save it and preview.
At main menu Arma2 click Multiplayer/new/Lan/.... pick a map and do the above. That is how I make and play all of my offline missions.
CokemanChatt 2 months ago
@CokemanChatt And how to pick a map? (the steps plz)
mickellemastra 2 months ago
@mickellemastra Not pick, Choose a map, your preference. Click new editor and start editing your chosen map.

I have to set my joystick to x-y axis? There is not analogue axis like "trust" or "brake"?
mickellemastra 2 months ago
@mickellemastra You can combine keys and x-y on the mouse to get a very controllable flight experience. See Some of my other flying videos which are all made using a keyboard and mouse.

@CokemanChatt I prefer to assign X-Y axis to my joystick but i dont know how
mickellemastra 2 months ago
@mickellemastra Try going to control options , scroll down to x-y axis and move your stick in the direction that you want and see if it binds.

BTW about the page file I heard a ramdisk is better than disabling I thought they did the same thing? can you please explan?
