I can't imagine anyone still being undecided (the differences between the two candidates are so vast) but if you are, you must take in to account the issues that Mr. Powell raises here. Neither the maternal nor paternal citizenship has ANY relevance in this matter. Neither Obama's, Obama's mother nor Obama's father's citizenship has any bearing WHATSOEVER on the matter at hand - his eligibility to run for the office of President. The Constitution clearly states that in order to be eligible for the office of President, an American citizen has to have been born on US soil. Kenya is not part of the US. Obama, beyond the shadow of any doubt, was indeed born in Kenya. This is confiremd by his own blood relatives who witnessed his birth. There are also hospital records to confirm this.

You have to look at the big picture. You're worried about something that will not affect you directly, versus something that will eventually destroy our entire economy. If we don't raise taxes to balance gratuitous spending, then the economy becomes worse. Currently we accrue 3.34 billion dollars a day on our debt due to the interest on our 10+ trillion dollar debt. The GNP (if you know what that is) has been outsourced to China, Japan, India, and others. Meaning, we lost a good portion of jobs, especially factory jobs as a result. The second huge income factor was due to the military industrial complex (halliburton) earning billions on the stock exchange. The military should have known well enough not to put him in another plane. Then he gave out valuable information to the enemy, probably causing more deaths

The Independents also do something that most partisans don't. We investigate both sides. So, I have as much dirt on Obama as I do on McCain. However, McCain's dirt is quite a bit worse. And now Palin is being investigated for using money to send her children on campaigns and entertainment at the expense of Alaska. So, now there's a misappropriation of funds being looked at on her behalf. Pretty typical.

Furthermore, I don't think Colin Powell has "betrayed his party". It's pretty well known that, though he is a registered Republican, he's very CENTRIST or MODERATE, and he even said in this meet the press interview that he thinks the party has gone too far right.

I believe that this endorsement can help Barack Obama only so much. Yes, many Republicans do care about what Colin Powell has to say. However, many of them simply will not vote for Barack Obama. At the same time, moderate or Republican-centrist veterans may lean toward Barack Obama now that Powell has issued this endorsement.
I would also like to add that Powell should not be held responsible for "his lies". He was given bad information to draw conclusions from.

Some people have a talent, spark, or non-convential experience that gets them hired by companies anyway. Like Powell explained well here, if you have already proven to have the judgement and talent for the job, one may decide to give you a shot. Afterall, that is why people look for experience, cause it usually means it gave you judgement. He already has the key ingredient in many people's eyes. So hear that for once instead of dismissing everything.

I can't imagine anyone still being undecided (the differences between the two candidates are so vast) but if you are, you must take in to account the issues that Mr. Powell raises here. What kind of President do you want? I do want the smartest guy in the room and I want the guy who sees a bright future, not one that looks back with longing.
