The moment the man in the beige coat started speaking i noticed such an uncanny resemblance to hugh grant. Not jst coz of the accent, this gentleman also likes laughing at himself and lives on no matter what! The host pointed the resemblance too.
Just curious if Tourettes is always really bad like that or something, im 19 and for few years like 20-30 times a week my whole body shakes and lashes out randomly or i just do random things what i cant stop, its all mainly movement and few times verbal. just wondering if i should see a doctor or something or if its just normal. just curious. anyone suggest anything? i also got OCD and ADHD and i know they sometimes happen with Tourettes
@michaelneedsthis I got tourettes and was diagnosed at 8 or 9, it started out very vad, I would litterally lay down on the floor in the middle of a class and start shouting or making noises of a sheep, dog and what not. I'm 22 today and my tic's has come down to counting vowels and syllables, like when im watching a movie or talking to someone I will count every vowels and/or syllables in the words.
Does anyone know if tourettes can start when you get older? I'm 42 & have started verbal & physical ticking over the last 6 months or so. They start when i'm having negative thoughts & usually only happen when i'm on my own. I seem to be able to surpress them to a large extent when i'm in company.
I admire John very much for the way he copes with the condition, he should deservedly feel very proud of himself.
@MeMeMeMeMeMeMeMeAndU To answer your question, you will have Tourettes Syndrome all your life and you can start ticcing any time during your life. I am Chopper's son, I have Tourettes and started when I was 6, im now 13. Chopper started ticcing when he was 32 so, to your question, yes. I have very mild Tourettes and I am told I don't tic at school then on my way home or at home I often tic a lot, depending if my Tourettes is bad that day. Chopper can, to some extent, suppress his Tourettes in...
@MeMeMeMeMeMeMeMeAndU some situations, I.E. my nanna's funeral a few weeks back, he managed very well indeed, then going between places that day he let them all out in the car and it was bad after holding them in. But in company he doesn't usually bother. :-)
@MeMeMeMeMeMeMeMeAndU hey there and hey choppers son, ive gotten some mild form of this and it happened when i was thirty, nothing ever before it, i just get it in my mind and hope it doesnt spread to actually talking, i too lose touretts when i am completely drunk but regain it as soon as i am sober and have to go somewhere other than my house. take care !!!
I have followed a lot of the documentaries about John and he comes across as such a lovely fellow...I remember myself thinking his mum was quite despicable. I have a child with aspergers syndrome and I know that sometimes children with needs can be very hard work, but have never shown my son anything other than love and support, she's was quite dreadful, John only ever needed his parents support and didn't appear to get it.
@tallulahbaddulah John is the loveliest man you will ever meet but he had an especially hard childhood because tourettes syndrome wasn't very well know and his mum was absolutely terrible and treat him as he did it on purpose. But he has a very good life and many friends now.
It was watching the 2009 documentary that gave me the courage to seek the help that I needed & finally get diagnosed as I was 31 at the time, I have had the honour of meeting the man in person & he couldn't be any nicer to you, a true gentleman! He told me that as soon as you can accept it yourself then things will get better! For me now when I go out shopping alone & at times with my son & I am on good form then I don't let the snide rude comments that I often get bother me at all
