@MrDukemeister - They weren't checking panties. They were checking to make sure the stews were wearing the regulation girdle & bra. Even the skinniest of "girls" had to wear a firm-control bra and a firm-control girdle.
And that wasn't the only industry that dictated what sort of underwear female employees had to wear. My mom worked for Weight Watchers in the 1980s, and ALL lecturers & clerks had to wear firm-control girdles under their clothes, & maintain a strictly controlled weight.
@OofusTwillip If I could travel back in time, I would go to 1972 and make sure that the cabin girls didn't unionize. Of course you have a right to check her panties at the start of each shift. What if her hymen is broken? Who wants a slut working for them? And that goes for all working girls.
