Anyone who is truly interested in this could simply look at star map, locate center of galaxy,and see that it is about 5.5 degrees south of the ecliptic. IT WILL NEVER ALIGN. At closest (approx 200yrs fr now) it will be a tiny bit closer on solstice day. In 2012 it will be closest to alignment 3days BEFORE th solstice. AND, if it ever did align, it would only b an astonomical non event--a meaningless novelty. Sorry to break this 2 ya, but this is grade-school astronomy

This alignment is a lie.

This happens every year from Earths perspective. An example is this December where exactly the same thing will happen. It does it EVERY December.

Our Solar system is celestial North of the galactic equator and still moving North. We are closer to the date it last happened than the date it will happen next, which is millions of years from now.
