I think "Let's Make Some Noise" is the best rock and soul video I've ever seen. Like a white Earth/Wind and Fire combined with the Clash, on steroids. Even more amazing that I never saw this til this late year (and my band actually tried to cover Sushi Girl when it came out). I believe this is 1981 which was a critical year when pop music could stay energized by the British/US/Irish resurgence or revert to schlock. The Tubes could have led the way if enough people listened.

There was a day when people cared about music, instead of some idiot reciting some dirty little rhymes on top of somebody else's music (because they couldn't make their own.) And these people cared about music. I used to sing this in a band when I was young. Couldn't sing this now. Too sophisticated.

@philster61 I think you may find the bands are out there but they aren´t dominating the mainstream video playlists. What about bands like ¨OK Go" and ¨Scissor Sisters¨? They have great videos.
