Are you? I'm an astronomer at the moment, but I'm hoping to train as a British Airways pilot in one of their two A318s arriving in September for their London-City to JFK route.
London to JFK in an A318??? The A318s sister, the A320, can barely make it from JFK-LAX...how do you expect the smaller one with less range to make it across the Atlantic?!?
Range fully loaded an A318 can fly 3,250 nm ( 6,000 km ) and A319 can fly 3,700 nm (6,900 km). It's true British Airways will introduce flights from LHR to JFK with A319. :)
It also has extra fuel tanks, which means more fuel.
Both of those together equal enough range to make it from London to New York. Also, it's not a straight flight. The plane will make a brief stop to get more fuel.
anybody know at what point during a landing where there is a crosswind do u apply ruder,is it all the way down the approach or just to correct yourself at the end ?
reach on not retard

Excellent video! I l love it! Great quality! Keep up the good work!
Just a simple question:
How did you get in the jumpseat? Did you just ask out the pilot?

It's all business class, which means less weight.
It also has extra fuel tanks, which means more fuel.

Retard is the best, better than the ugly Boeings, like some one in the toilet, 100, 50 40 30 20 10, yuuuk!!! no action

When the GPWS calls out "Retard retard retard" it means retard the throttles to idle it will keep calling it out until the pilot does. :)
Rwy02 3 years ago
GPWS? Nope. It's the FWC that is responsible for the radaralt. callouts.

It says "retard" to slow down (reversers, spoilers, etc.).
Abeastlypie 3 years ago
Retared means, is the point to flare! nog to slow down!
FlyingFilipe 3 years ago
Your both wrong. Retard means to retard the throttles to idle.

did it say " retard"?

yes
gleon99 3 years ago
@DeathFish123 It means: "retard" the throttle levers, i.e. pull them back to idle.
d46512 1 year ago
@DeathFish123 yeh it tells the pilot to bring thrust all the way down :)

What do they say just before touchdown?
FlyAirNick 4 years ago
the computer says RETARD, which means to reduce the throttle to zero. it's just a reminder for the pilots
drazen21 4 years ago
Ah thanks. I was really taking it to offence.

I flew from Tel Aviv (LLBG) to Ljubljana (LJLJ).

Cool vid ... how did you get into the cockpit?
GE90fancone 4 years ago
Hi,
I wrote a letter to the captain and asked the flight attendant to give it to him.
In the letter I asked him to let me spend a while in the cockpit... :)
gleon99 4 years ago
i might try that!
