  • Written by Jimi Hendrix

Produced by David Garfield & Michael Landau

Arranged by David Garfield, Michael Landau, Simon Phillips, Will Lee

Michael Landau - lead guitar, lead vocal (chorus)

Simon Phillips - drums, spoken word (white collar conservative)

Will Lee - bass, lead vocals (verse)

David Garfield - synth organ, acoustic piano, spoken words

Eddie Van Halen - guitar on intro (right side) and high part on chorus

  • Nice version, really like the different styling.

  • I do not here Eddie Van Halen in this song.... where did you get your info?

  • To my understanding, This isn't all EVH, this recording represents several guitarists, drummers, etc. It's a great tribute to Jimi Hendrix and Jeff Porcaro but listen closely and know there are many accomplished musicians on this record

  • To all the Nay-Sayers - This may not be Jimi, but he does a terrific job in playing homage to a Master! (and actually to Jeff Porcaro). In any case, his technique is Brilliant, as ever!!!

  • This is so badass.

  • Eddie's a monster but Jimi he will never be....

  • @yousaiditzero hendrix is overrated

  • @iownallnoobs Hendrix is big for a reason.

  • @sebz61 hes black and died young

  • @iownallnoobs How so? Support your opinion.

  • @iownallnoobs k well let me know when you the title "worlds best guitarist of all time"

  • @yousaiditzero lol. hendrix was amazingly innovative, but if there's anyone that can compare with him, and surpass him, it's eddie.

  • @jeffgrantinct eddie is overated

theres many great guitarist for example michael romeo of symphony

x everyone has a time sides they were two diff decades

  • hahahah, leave this shit alone EVH, or whatever these people call you around here. HENDRIX OWNS.

  • Michael has always been under-rated....

  • This song was from a tribute album released in 1997 called "Tribute to Jeff." Jeff Porcaro, that is, the late drummer from the band Toto.

"'If Six Was Nine' features appearances by Edward, Michael Laudau, Will Lee on bass, Simon Phillips on drums, and David Garfield."--The Van Halen Encyclopedia

Eddie performs the solo, not note-for-note, but in his own inimitable way same way Jimi Hendrix did when he played other peoples' songs, and in doing so, placing his signature on it. Very impressive!

  • ah hes cheatin`

hes still in tune at the end of the song

    XD

  • Something about Eddy reminds me of Bruce Lee.. They all did an amazing job sounds beautiful...

  • EVH does the intro section, but Michael Landau plays most of the guitar and solo parts.

  • cannn i have the picture at 2.50min i love it !!pllleeeeaaasseeeee !!!!!!!

  • who the heck is that drummer? what a compliment to Eddie

  • @hammondb311251 There are several guitarists and drummers on each track, one drummer I know for sure is Simon Phillips

  • Michael has got the Hendrix vibe holy fuck

  • I clicked this at 5150 veiws....LOL

  • @jefftibbs1 that's good luck lol.

  • @jefftibbs1 interesting

  • This is without question the BEST cover of a great Jimi Hendrix classic, BRAVO!

  • Does anyone have an idea when this was recorded?

  • this os from the "Tribute to Jeff Porcaro".

Eddie plays the intro on the right channel, and high part on chosurs.

The solo is from Michael Landau, who also is the lead vocalist.

  • GREAT BAND I LOVE THEM TOO GREAT TASTE OF MUSICS YOUR THE BEST ,,,

  • sm radio guy told me long before youtube has this that eddie was playing this with other giants from Toto, and others.

  • someone kindly tell me what the fuck this?????????

  • If 6 was 9 is an old tune that Jimi Hendrix performed quite a bit... It has the late 60's psychodelic sound and feel to it.

  • For the best part of this song, it is the brilliant MICHAEL LANDAU on guitar. Yes, he is that good! He does the occasional vocal too. It's from the Tribute to Jeff Porcaro cd. Released in 1996.

  • its eddie van halen all the way pal not michael landau.

  • Oh I see, you're referring to the pictures. Right? Yes, that's EVH all the way.

  • michael landau WHAT A FUCKING DICK HEAD! HAHAHAHA!!!! no ruudjegitaar i'm referring to the nude pictures i have of your mom DOUCHEBAG!

  • Thank you for your "intelligent" reply stratdem. Please refrain from using profanity in my direction. On the issue at hand: according to the cd booklet both ML and EVH are players on this track. My ears tell me ML is playing the verses, the breakdowns like at 1:16, the solo and parts after that. IMO EVH played the intro (at least the right channel part) and parts like the high harmonics at 1:09 and 1:51. But if you want to believe otherwise, go right ahead.

  • your so very wellcome asswipe!

  • I agree with you.

Eddie is only on a few parts of the song.

Most of the guitar u hear, isnt him.

  • very interesting.....Would like some more insight on this song...who singing? when was it recorded? where? nice find though!!!

  • who is singing...no way its not eddie is it

  • Great video. Thanks!

  • sweet

  • thanks man! been wanting to hear this for many years.!

  • Love this intro... for all my friends enjoy EVH is still KING
