Man oh man... this was amazing. Too bad I'll be in my second quarter in my art school... I'm going into character concept design and directing... hope to work at Square Enix one day. My teachers have years and years in the video game/movie animation industries, and the school has connections with E3/PAX/Bioware/Bethesda/LucasA­rts/Dreamworks/etc, etc, etc Perhaps with enough networking and skill I can eventually, in 10-20 years or so, direct a Final Fantasy game... For those who say its going to be as linear as the predecessor, it isnt. You have a wider choice in how to progress, there's way more locations, and you can visit areas during different time periods to find rare items! Not to mention the new monster team system. So, yes. SE improved it!

Jesus all these apparent final fantasy fans and they bitch like hell about FF 13 and then 13 part 2 like they have already played it??! Yeah we all love FF 7 etc but what do you expect Square Enix to do...stay in the past and not change FF at all? I liked 13 and I'm looking forward to this. Can't wait, I've seen a few second segments of an area that looks like a theme park with mini games and chocobo racing too :-D

@shashauno well I loved 7, 8 & 9 were cool and the rest were good, on that I agree, but 13 was the best in my opinion, in fact one of the best games I played on a console - replayed it many times and occasionally still play it just to relax :) I know many ppl that feel the same way :) if you like old ones - play them :) I do :) but I also welcome change and variety :P same FF7 with better graphs wouldn't be worth time playing it imo :P

@AerithWingz they both are great simply because both of them are unique and perfectly fit for the time they are released :P And as Frank Herbert well put in one of his books - nostalgia is one of the strongest illusions in modern world :) If 7 would be released now - not in 97 (note nearly 15 years ago :P) noone would even bother playing it. And even if it would have new graphics then it would be just a 13 with a different story :P enjoy the fantasy guys n' gals and hope it won't be final :P

FFXIII-2 looks like it's going to be more of FFXIII. almost no gameplay and shiny cutscenes. remember watching a cutscene then walking down a very linear corridor/hallway for about 15 steps and other cutscene happened?

@waznez If its interactive, It's a game. If it's involving playing as characters handed to you to learn their stories, It's an RPG. In fact, It's a REALLY good RPG if its mostly cutscenes. Why? Because its describing events that happen in the game, or the characters, or in the case you said something completely useless.

Oh, And in-case you didnt know, This isnt like shitty CoD where the storylines the exact same and you can guess what it is and be right.

@waznez Of course it looks like FFXIII, it's a sequel! Just like Kingdom Hearts 2 looked just like Kingdom Hearts or Uncharted looked like Uncharted 2 and 3. They even said that they cut back on the cutscenes and replaced them with the quicktime events so it wont take a zillion disks on the xbox. Plus they added side quests and mini games along with towns and npcs so obviously there's gonna be alot more gameplay.

@MasterOssy Etro recruited lightning in, not chaos. Chaos is just our hearts inside of us when. Chaos was created when Etro felt pity for the humans and gave them hearts (chaos). When the war of transgression was coming to its end Etro felt pity for the humans in cocoon and saved them from ragnarok. i hope this cleared it up a little for you... I dont mean to be a pain or anything=)

You have to actually read the background to understand the backstory. but the basic game is easy to understand if you played it.

Wow that battle sequence looks sick! The swift actions, the power in each movement and the epic scenery as everything becomes fluid and aerodynamic!.... Shame the game is going to be shit, though. They should either move completely towards Kingdom hearts/ Dissidia gameplay or go back to the classic gameplay, not stay in the middle with horribly dull and repetitive gameplay with very little sense of personal gameplay development which should be in an RPG but is nowhere to be seen here.
