The wording of it IS that vague, that YT might close accounts of people who upload covers. It won't matter how many times you say that you don't own the song, and how many times you credit the original artist. And in my case, I like to use video game footage even on my original songs. Nope, that could be "infringement" as well, even though I make sure to credit every game that I use to its rightful owner.
I called my congressman's office and signed one of the online petitions, If they pass this bill, even the neutered version, its a major blow to freedom all over the world. We will be no better than countries like Iran that censor content internally. This protects NO ONE and only gives the governments of the world MORE control over everyone. Fuck this bill and the bastard that is championing it.
Absolutely true. And it isn't just north americans that will be affected by it, as many websites will shut down preventing acces to them from outsiders too (obviously) and others will be blacklisted on american search engines (and those are the most used - such as Bing and Google).
