just lift it off a little bit then pull on it ..no need for wd40 ..the use rubber wheel eraser we call it ..erases the left over double side tape residue ..and ooh wicked clown said hi ..lol
I just bought me one of these cars - a 2005 - an there's no way in hell im going to be tinting it, lowering it or doing anything to it other than enjoying it. Always owned an american car, always will!
I put some body side molding I ordered on my new G37 and they made it look like crap! After 5 weeks I couldn't take it anymore and went looking for how to remove them. Used this technique and it worked like a charm! Done in 20 minutes total!
Anybody want to buy some cheap "Moonlight White' side moldings for a G37 Coupe - LOL
Dont spray fucking WD40 on your car, and a fucking spackle tool and FUCKING GOO GONE!? This is everything you DONT want to get onto your car paint. goddamn.
@HeraldOfHypo Dude, That's the way it's been done for years. *everyone* I know has used this method, It doesn't mess with the paint at all, It's not like your spraying it on there and leaving it for hours. I had no issues with it on my vehicle, the numerous people in my car club have had no issue. Don't poop on the Parade, dude.
@HeraldOfHypo uhh.. I wouldnt use the spackle tool.. but wtf is wrong with WD40 and Goo Gone? are you retarded? The contaminants in rain and on the road probably do more to your vehicles paint job.
@zeroxstrife250 Well, the removal process is the same yes, but you've gotta be careful to make sure you don't have holes under your car's moldings. some cars have holes some don't.. check online to make sure you don't have any before you remove the molding.
@aliens300c Yeah i thought about doing that, but i have hard plastic with chome side moldings on my 300C so you can't really remove them. I do have a question: do you know how to remove the trunk emblem (wing). Because i saw an LED Chrysler wing on the net that acts like a brake light. I want to buy it but you've got to replace the stock emblem and i don't really know how to remove it without doing some damage.
Use some Maxx Solve to get any of the junk left on it and then use some compound and then a coat of a good wax over the area. A light compound should take it out. I work at a Chrysler dealership so I have done this before.
I'm pretty sure they will be useless, although if you really needed to you could put new 3m tape on and re-apply them. but chances are they wouldn't look right. you have to be careful too. some vehicles have holes under the moldings.
Chargers, Challengers, Magnums and 300's don't have holes.
why are you doing this? i had a car with this stuff (it was a corolla) and i was crazy looking for this shit (the originals, not copies or fakes ones)the factory ones were expensive because IS HARD TO FIND, and i see this, dude that shit cost money (a little but something is something) fuck
I'm doing it because it gives the car a cleaner look, if you look at my other videos, I've painted my car and turned it into a beastly monster of a beast :P
i took the moldings off of my silverado i left my truck out in the sun all day on a hot summer day and then removed the moldings it helped alot and saved me alot of time
Thanks for the upload. I have 2 questions, firstly do the chemicals used (WD40 and Goo Gone) eat away at the paint or induce a sort of faded affect on the paint, particularly darker paints. Secondly, could you still use this method on older cars that are around 13 years old as the glue would be much harder?. Thanks.
Nope, WD40 & Goo Gone have no effect on your paint, However. An older vehicle's paint has faded over time, removing the moulding will show the fresh paint behind it. you will end up with a line down the side of your car. Also, some vehicles have holes under the mouldings. so be very careful, do your research.. I actually suggest against it on an older vehicle.
Hey I took off the side moulding on my 03 silverado but Im having a problem taking off the sticky stuff behind it I used a whole can of Goo Gone rubbing on it and I still cant get it off any suggestions?
Hey man great tip. I just finished taking my side mouldings off and it looks great. I also used a blow dryer to heat the adheasive and it helped the moulding come off much better. Thanks for the help bro. Really appreciate it.
Just did mine. Wish I would have saw this before I actually took the molding off the way I did. I had a lot of adhesive left. I used 3M adhesive remover and the whole car took about 3.5 hours. Looks great now. Good video. You can find anything on youtube!!!!
Most people who drive a 300 and take the time to do aftermarket/custom work to it usually don't park like a retard in the front isles...we park far away from other vehicles.
Actually, that's where most of the shopping carts are. People are too lazy to walk their fast asses to the cart return so they leave them and the wind blows them. I came out of a store and there was two carts touching my car. I was pissed!
looks very good on your car. I have a 300 touring as well and the side molding is chrome I think it looks better with it on only because my car is black...btw would you know where to get chrome door handle covers?
im working on this got to get someone with a welder to tac over the holes i didnt relize were there lol

How do you remove the dirt build up (line) that are left from the molding? I can't get rid of the lines :(
thanks for any help.
Jtizzown 2 years ago
If its just dirt which has bonded onto the paint then a thorough claying may remove it. Then a polish to fix the dullness and light scratches.

amazing video. thanks. just removed the moulding off my 300.
wouldnt recommend the hair dryer, could damage or etch the paint from the left over 3M tape, wd-40 works great, use it on left over tape.
excellent instructions in this video!!

Get a blow dryer or heat gun, apply heat to the 3G tape, it should come off easier.

You can remove the back SIDE mouldings, But the Chrysler wing moulding has two holes under it
aliens300c 4 years ago
I guess you could do this to get the back emblem off also? If you do that, will you have to repaint anything?
umkimmel 4 years ago
If you take the big emblem off there are two fasteners inside trunk lid. This leaves open holes in the trunk.
numberoftheday 4 years ago
that took an hour and a half? try a hair dryer and they are off in about 2 minutes
