  • I catch 12-15 inchers out of 50 feet water suspended 10-25 feet off the bottom with plain hook and small shinner minnows and they are white like that, but they get their black color after laying on the ice for 5-10 min. It is wierd but I'm sure they are black crappie.

  • What was that at 0:16? A duck?!

  • @fishingwiththenerd no he clearly didint want to disclose his location and he censored the name of the lake he was fishing with a duck noise... idiot

  • I just don't understand how to read that electronic thing, pretty bad when I don't even know the name of the damn thing.

  • What size and color Hali jig works the best for you?

  • @fullyloadedM4 i use the blue mostly i forget what size but its around 2.5 - 3 inches

  • the fish u threw back died cause u brought em up to fast u can tell they r shocked cause well they r not crappie flopping

  • muddy water.

  • nice fishing video, impressive action too. although your smokin the wrong stuff man.

  • Mike, Yea, Mike, Yea, Mike, Yea lol. Great video man, thanks for posting.

  • What do you consider to small to keep? Some of those would be just fine for me. Just asking not trying to start any fights. btw nice vid.

  • @fishwrangler97 here in ny the minimum size limit is 9" - although i keep some 9"'s i'd rather keep 10" and up - fillets are kind of thin on fish under 10"

  • @ROADSNAKE90ROADSNAKE Ok, I didn't know if you had a set limit for how small the fish could be for your preferences or what. I also forgot that some lakes have a minimum length limit so that plays into it as well.

  • what is the blue thing and what does it do?

  • MIke is funny, all he says is YEA! lol

  • thats cool

  • thats cool

  • what state were u guys in?

  • @MyBobo234 newyork

  • @ROADSNAKE90ROADSNAKE Where abouts in new york? i live in hastings

  • @Mw2Fisherman we're near buffalo - we were fishing Allegany County

  • ny needs to change its rule on size for crappie. go down to C lake when the ice first comes off and see all the dead undersize crappie that were released from being hauled out of 30 ft of water. it should be the first twenty five you yank, you keep. this lakes crappie population could be much bigger.

  • are you jigging right on the bottom ?

  • @shdfhuasfghdskhaslbg near the bottom although a couple fish were suspended 15 ft off bottom

  • are u jigging right on the bottom ?

  • these fish are all dead....

  • @LtSplatter everything dies eventually

  • @ROADSNAKE90ROADSNAKE yeah true. but not everyone hooks dead fish on a line and pretends to catch a lot of fish.

  • @LtSplatter i can see how you think they look dead -they kind of do but i can assure you they were all alive - after pulling them up from deep water they weren't to lively

no need for us to stage dead fish videos - we got plenty of videos up with fish of all species -ice and open water

  • @ROADSNAKE90ROADSNAKE well @1:50 you hook pops out and the fish sits there. and 30 feet of water isnt deep enough to make them that lifeless. so i dont understand your motives to stage a dead fish video.

  • @LtSplatter to be honest the truth is the fish are paralyzed with fear when they see who's got em hooked

  • @ROADSNAKE90ROADSNAKE yup. thats gotta be it

  • @LtSplatter lol angry little kid trying to start shit go suck your daddys dick instead of being a pathetic little troll

  • @LtSplatter you are joking?

  • it would b fun but they look really colorless

  • those crappies look really sickly. I'd have a hard time eating something that looks like that

  • @hostoboy1 i had no problems eating those but i cant eat the ones with parasite worms wiggling in their flesh- got to draw the line somewhere.

deep water fish in low light conditions tend to loose their coloration and marking

  • gonna ice fish this winter for the first time. planning on going up to wisconsin around christmas. would the ice be thick enough? what should i use? waxies, minnows?

  • "yeah"

  • This makes me want ice season to come quicker!!!

  • @jimuranoutdoors I checked out ur channel nice crappie man

Also I watched ur perch rig video and found a flounder rig tied the same way but with the weight on top does that matter? Thanks

  • We gave up lol. Hey I was wondering how much is that vexilar u use in ur vids

  • I go ice fishing every year for 3 years now and only caught 2 fish and with how sad that is I wanted some tips if possible to redeem myself I do have a pond up the street with crappie yellow perch bass pickerel and sunnies in it thanks also please subscribe

  • @dougsoutdoors 2 fish - i would have given up lol.

i got a bunch of ice videos on my channel ,should find some helpful tips - to me the key to icefishing is being willing to work hard and keep moving till ya find active fish.

check out iceshanty website if you havn't already

  • Thanks alot do u know about sacodaga lake walleye and what lake was that

  • Thanks do u know about sacondaga lake it's by me also what lake were u at

  • Roadsnake... great video every time never disappointed keep it up. Oh and is it absolutely nessecary to have a flasher and snow tent? Because that just isn't in my buget

  • @fishingkid97 its not necessary but it helps a lot - i fished for years on a bucket without shelter or a sonar flasher - just dress warm

  • I live about an hour from Albany and wanted to know how big walleye need to be to keep

  • @dougsoutdoors the state wide regs are 15" min for walleye but some lakes have special regs for example i know of a few lakes around me where minimum is 18"

  • hey, are you guys going to make another spring chautauqua crappie trip again?

  • @DrakeShockner we fish chautauqua for crappie every spring but last year didn't get out - too busy working. i'll definitely be back there this year

  • Do the smaller hali jigs work good for gills? I almost bought some today at Gander but didnt and i'll be out there again in a few days. Any comment is appreciated!

  • @michiganoutdoorsmen they work good for all panfish inclusing gills

  • @ROADSNAKE90ROADSNAKE i meant including not inclusing

  • I just love your guy's videos. Keep em coming! I love them cold crappie to.

By the way, tell Mike he needs to not talk so much. :)

    D

  • Yep, nothing like cold water crappies! I do have to say those are the whitest white crappies i have ever seen. The black crappies i have caught were almost all black sometimes. Anyways good vid thumbs up!

  • are those black or white crappies

  • @bobevanbob2 black crappie -they seem to lose they're color when they're deep

  • Stingy ass fuckers trying to block the lake name but I know what lake that is

  • @AutumnM3 only one parking lot for fisherman on that lake and no on street parking

  • @legoman844 hey bill how much is your vexalar

  • @legoman844 i think it was around 40 or 45 bucks a few years back

  • lots of dinks

  • @MrImperialman i consider sub legal fish in the 3- 7 inch range dinks.

there werent big slobs but they were keep size 9 + for my area

  • @ROADSNAKE90ROADSNAKE these stupid assholes are just pissed cause they don't catch any.

  • Once ogain! nice vid! you must have some killer blood pressure(like I do)!lol to enjoy/ stay in the cold like that!...hey that chain sinker,is that what it's for?...=have a few in 1 of my dad's old tackle boxes(like 60 y.o...from TWIN FAIR)!n was just wondern"?...u r awesome bro!...never seen this 1 b4

  • @gregoir thanks man - not sure about the chain sinker - the hali jigs have a short piece of chain that attaches the hook.

cold aint so bad when ya got the heater blastin lol

  • Nice video! I sssoooo miss that n fishing there! on the cooking...I like to make some season'd flour(flour, seasoned salt, garlic powder, cumin, little bit of white pepper).in a big plastic container, cover it n shake it up, press the flour on tight n deep fry em" in a fry daddy for like 5~6 minute's(checkem)...n they're wonderful!mmm tasty...

  • @gregoir that sounds pretty good

  • Just outta curiosity Bill, how do you eat a nice perch or crappie or bluegill fish fry. I liked to put mine in a bun, load it with tartar sauce and ketchup lol. Also what sides do you make for your meal? I usually do rice or potato.

    -Tyler

  • @TylersMusic10 - i used to deep fry the panfish in beer batter ( no sauce or ketchup ) with a big pile of french fries and onion rings .but now due to health reasons i fry fish in extra virgin olive oil with a light coat of bread crumbs and a side dish of plain white rice and a salad.

  • @ROADSNAKE90ROADSNAKE yeah thts how we deep fry them, but the finish product, i gott load tarter sauce and ketchup

  • Just because some of them are small doesn't mean the fish are stunted.

  • i'v never done ice fishing. what is that thing with the lights you have next to you?

  • @ehsanpartovi thats a vexilar sonar flasher for reading depth and marking fish

  • so why dident you say the name of the lake??

  • maybe the clarity of the water has to do something with it your fishing 30 fow and you can barely see the fish till they come out of the water?

  • i don't know for sure if its the same in new york but in minnesota white crappies become lighter color because the clarity of the isn't very good. So as the water gets clearer the spots on the fish become more obvious. It isn't because they are from deeper water.

  • What fir are Crapie-s good ? I mean, their name is "Crapie" !! :)

  • crappies are not any good -terrible that's why they're called crappie - so them all for me

  • @vanruj its got two p's crappies

  • was mike drilling the hole in slo mo?

If it wasn't it sure was fast

  • mike's fast but not that fast - doubled the video speed

  • Those white crappie ?

  • they were black crappie - just lost they're markings from being down so deep in murky water

  • I think u said too many time crapie!!

  • sweet fishin' .how much is that vexilar and what model?5/5

  • thanks

fl8- i think it went for around $265 a few years back when i got it

  • Another awesome video. Best yet, check my fishjng videos out. Thanxs, see ya.

  • man i love your guys vids keep up the good work

  • are you guys in a fishtrap guide? and is that an fl8 or 18?

  • yep fishtrap guide and a fl 8 vex - i'd rather have the 18 with the bottom zoom but i got the vex free from cabelas a few years ago

  • yea, so would i, i have an fl8 also, i let a buddy fish with it for a little while, and he loved it but i couldnt catch crap without it, lol and i bout the new scout this year with the black top and i love it, but im thinking about getting a guide so i can fish with a partner, is there alot of room in the guide?

  • i couldn't go back to fishing without my vex- nice to know fish are under your hole even if they're not biting. the guide i got isn't as big as the older ones like my brother has -we're sitting pretty close together but it works for me and the kid

  • i know, theres no way, lol

is it a pain movin the poles on the guide?

  • those crappies have a really light color.

  • they lose their markings when down in deep water-after 15 min on the ice they started getting their color back
