This is my favorite track from you guys so far. This song and video has helped me get up in the mornings ever since my car accident in June. Keep making music you two. There is no sound out there like this. I plan on buying your albums soon. Great work.
You had some crazy weather that day. Sunny at first in the morning, then a blizzard hit. The snow completely melted away, and you went to the playground while it was warm in the afternoon. Then another blizzard came. Luckily the sun came out and melted it all away just in time to ride off into the sunset among the a green tree lined street! Good night.
I don't know why but every time I watch this video, a smile grows on my face. Whether its at 1:00 in the morning after a long day, or after a tough situation that made me pissed, this song never disappoints. As always, great work Derek ;)
Reminds me of home. It's kinda strange. It pretty much looks exactly like that where I live now, out by the coast of Sweden, but this video still reminds me more of my home town, back inland. I've lived up here all my life, and I never want to move away. I can imagine going further north, but never further south. I need to stay with the snow. Even though it happens every year, the snowy midwinter nights still get to me. Every flake accentuated by the streetlights against the dark sky...
Maggie is indeed in elephant heaven - on earth. She was moved to the PAWS sanctuary in California & is thriving there. Check out the video - Holiday Greetings from Maggie the Elephant at PAWS
Coming to Canada for college from Hawaii, this video really rekindled that feeling I got the first time there was a heavy snowfall at night, the massive amount of flakes falling in front of light sources, and all the benches, buildings, and everything else had a thick blanket of snow over it, it was like nothing I've ever experienced before, literally. I really miss it. No one here gets it; winter is annual for them. Just saying that this video made me feel something really special.
I've been thinking of doing something like this for awhile now. Awesome job! Derek, have you seen the film "Man with a Movie Camera"? It's a black and white film that a Russian guy shot in the late 1920's. It's very similar to this but "Man with a Movie Camera" is a feature length film. Also, are you guys planning on selling Starship Amazing t-shirts any time soon?
@Tolstoievsky I can confirm this. I live near the geographical center of Sweden, and this video looked like home to me. I have a habit of describing Canada as being the Scandinavia of the Americas... Now, Estonia is technically outside of Scandinavia, and Alaska isn't part of Canada, but they're close enough to share the same climate!
i always love the music you guys create and this video is a great compliment to a great song. my fiance also creates music and i love watching the process that goes into creating songs like this and wish i could be that talented. oh well lol.
I lived in Anchorage my entire life but moved away six months ago to go to graduate school. I think this is a great tribute even if watching it makes me feel homesick.
By the way, if you haven't checked out Ian's Game Paradise in the Northway Mall, you really should.
oh yeah, and i dunno if you know derek, but theres a really good spot on spenard for retro video games. a guy named mike owns the place and he has walls of all kinds of old school games. its just called spenard pawn shop, but theres a ton of awesome stuff in there. way better than that play and trade on dimond. way better
thats gotta be summer last year cuz right now its sunny out, but there arent many leaves on the trees yet. its getting there though, i fucking love summer time in anchorage.
watching this video I have to remind myself that this is American. It's so far away that it sometimes seems foreign to me. Awesome video! Would love to go there someday.
I bought this album back in November of last year. And I wanted to drop a line and let you know that I've thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks Derrick and Calvin for your awesome work.

Looks like a cool place, but then I remember how much of a pain heavy snow is to shovel or drive in. Cool track though.
