Man I miss him!!! I wish i could have gotten to see him play live!! Each ERA has their own special guitarist.. We had Stevie, those before us had Jimi, and those before them had and still have Buddy. "Can't ya just see the tears rollin down the street"
even thou i luv stevie's guitar playin the greatest of all time was hendrix who which is obvious was a great inspiration to stevie , i don't think there is to many that can cover it like stevie could he was a great loss to the music world
I think of this my dad everytime I hear this song now, he got me into SRV @ like 9 years old and @ 28 I still love SRV.. My pops passed away May 2011 and I found an alternate little wing version and made a slide show @ his memorial. Ironically Little Wing was one of my dads and my favorite songs.
Im absolutely stunned by this peformance. I was born a few years after his time, but still, i think Stevie Ray Vaughan is the greatest guitarist of all times. I have never seen and heard him in action with my own eyes and ears. For everyone who have heard, and meet him alive, it must have been a unbelievable great honor. His talent was, and is; remarkable. He is such an incredible inspiration source for everyone who likes the Blues. R.I.P Stevie. Im a Big fan. Sadly, you left us too early.
WOW!! As I sit here typing through my tears, I MUST say I have NEVER heard Stevie play this with as much SOUL, publicly or privately. It's a privilage and an honor to have broke bread (& a few strings) with you, my Brother, RIP love.
This just leaves me speechless along with sending tears streaming down from my eyes. The talent he had and the ability to just soothe people through music. This version along with Rivera Paradise are two songs to calm you down reflect.
Almost 21 years since he's been gone, and he still amazes me. I haven't heard this one before. It's so good to hear this with the organ of Reese Wynans too. Absolutely beautiful. Jimi and Stevie are all there is as far as I am concerned.
I'm 37 and still get tears in my eyes when I heart that unmistaken, undeniable, unforgetable sound from SRV. I agree @rumblebeast08 ....loved it when Reese joined the band.
everytime i hear him play little wing wowwwwwwwww gives me goozebumps and makes me so saaaad why do all the greatest of all time die young, DAMNIT I MISSSSS HIMMMM!!!!! :'( gone but never EVER! forgotten.......
I actually was at this show. It was INCREDIBLE. He went and played at the Key Largo nightclub after.....I was bummed because I wasn't 21.....oh well.....he didn't play this particular tune during the show, so this must be a soundcheck. I remember at one point he tripped over some misplaced cables onstage. He almost took a header but he didn't miss a note. His boot came off....he was wearing green socks!! I thought that was pretty cool....Anyway, he's gone, but DEFINITELY not forgotten.
@tweeznax I just found someone who tapped the show. And I listened to it the other night....amazing! He opened with Wall Of Denial and ended with Voodoo and Third Stone back to back. The ending just blew me away!!!!! And green socks, that's pretty funny haha
just beautiful......so this is what it sounds like when a man and a guitar fuse into one being...just beautiful........praise God for giving us the ability to enjoy music!
I've read in this bios and elsewhere that Stevie's soundchecks were actually mini concerts. Amazing. I haven't been there in awhile, but the acoustics at the Schnitz' are supposed to be awesome. This must have been a terrific concert. And you're so right. Stevie is still with us. He never really left, and his music will never die.
he is still with us my friend. you will know it when the power is pulled and the music continues to fill the gray room.that is gods gift to us for needing him before we were done with stevie. and that is the greatest blessing of all, cherish it, pass it on
My goodness this is such a special performance! I feel bad that it was just a sound test and an audience didn't get to experience this song.
This is quite possibly the most powerful I've heard Stevie play this song before. I can only imagine how great that concert had to have been because it sounds like him and the band were really on it that day. Well, they were on it every day but there were just times when Stevie was EXTRA special.
Ya, I'm going to have to take the time to learn how to play this song. Then once I know the album version I need to try with all my might to learn to play it like this.
I'm serious when I say that I nearly cry every time I hear this song reach 1:57, It's just that powerful.

Man thanks a lot! I thought he had never played it while being clean. Concerning the stiletto rain version it's freaking awesome, so much feeling in the song, you can really feel he's in pain.
Thanks for stopping by, I love Dirty Pool from Montreux in 82! And yeah it was a real shocker and treat for me when I stumbled across this version. And yeah the Stiletto Rain version almost brings me to tears just thinking about how much pain he was in. Thank goodness Stevie got clean and was able to do it for as long as he did
