Great clip! I love Adam's description of aye-ayes. He made one factual error. When Madagascar separated from Gondwana it didn't carry any lemurs with it. In fact, that event predates the first primate. The prevalent theory is that the ancestors of all lemurs floated to Madagascar from Africa on large pieces of driftwood.
There is an audio version of Last Chance to See, recorded by Douglas himself with recordings made on the trip and commentaries by Mark and Richard Dawkins. When I found that I may have passed out. It was like a Biblical scholar discovering the Q gospel.
PS: NOBODY ELSE VOTE FOR THE Romywan42 COMMENT. IT IS AT 42 THUMBS UP.
Douglas lights up my mind. I think it´s wonderful that he gave us so much of his time and thought. I admire his kindness and seemingly endless trust in humanity. I miss him.
As the way of all things, what effect do you suppose its question, knowledge, understanding and application by billions of persons will have on the state of global economics, science, the humanities, education, government and business?
.
The underlying law of nature is the most important subject any person can investigate and learn about, can proceed to understand, and can then come to personally apply in life.
Love it....this is pretty much a verbatim account from his book "Last Chance To See"......Brilliant book. Brilliant man. RIP Douglas.....may your brilliance shine online for centuries to come.......
Thank you so much for uploading this video. Douglas Adams was such a fascinating and funny person and he's been greatly missed. So long, Douglas and thanks for all the laughs!
"...according to it..." AND NOBODY LAUGHED?? I ve never seen an audience missing a joke as massively as this one did... , no offence intended,,

@dleuck
I think back when he gave the talk, what he said was still the official theory.

There's something about those boys at 1:41 that make me want to slap them in the face.

THE MOST FUNDAMENTAL QUESTION OF ALL:
.
What is the underlying law of nature.

8:39 "The basic problem with this boat was that it was full of sea, which I thought was not the point of boats". That is an absolute classic!!
