  • You guys, give the kid a break. He is just trying to be helpful.

  • You said, "make sure you're safe when you're doing this".........You then went ahead and used the circular saw with gloves......yikes! I was cringing. 'Magprob' describes what could happen perfectly. You'd be dragged in and sliced in an instant.

  • All very interesting - if you have a workshop and all the fancy tools. Would love to see your video of building a Warré hive from scratch from reclaimed timber, 1 handsaw, 1 hammer, 1 screwdriver, 1 tape measure, nails and screws.

  • As I described years ago in the UK warrebeekeeping yahoo group, soft aluminum nails can be driven into predrilled (less chance of splitting) rabbet holes, decapitated with wire clippers, and top bars with blind mating holes simply dropped thereonto. See also my vid: Beeswax strips for Warré top bar beehives.

  • Does this hive or the top bar hive have any advantages over the langstroth hive?

  • If that blade grabs ahold of those leather gloves, it will pull your hand in and turn you every way but loose. Shall I show you my really ugly scars? Don't even get them on the other side of that blade. If the board kicks back, it will grab those gloves. Believe me, I know.

  • Very true, but I am using what I have around the house:)

  • Finishing nails would not have be de-headed.
