I recently lost a lot of weight and went to Macy's to buy new clothes, everything in the men's section is hipster clothes, all the ad's and posters were that same picture of hipsters. It used to be all hip hop clothing just a few years ago and now every rack is skinny jeans, 70's looking plaid shirts, top hats and geeky glasses and summer scarves. Ugh....

I make a good living in residential rental property. I buy my clothes at Walmart and the Salvation Army and drive a ten year old truck. I'm not trying to be cool, it's just that I don't feel comfortable wearing expensive clothes. When you go to a tenants house to collect rent I don't think it's cool to show up in a Hummer wearing 200 dollar shoes and a Rolex.

The problem that I've found in describing hipsters is that it always ends up too vague and too broad. What Jimmy said, even though it can apply, can be used for any kid trying to be scene in any way, hipster or otherwise. And if they genuinely do like the clothing and aren't "pretending", like Troy was arguing, what then? Insist on calling them hipsters?

2) There is something incredibly pretentious about these people. The pseudo-intellectual bullshit that they spew is absolutely INFURIATING. They honestly believe that they are 'too cool for the room,' and it makes me want to repeatedly slam their faces into the ground, followed by a good ol' fashioned curb stomp.
Hipsters ruined irony and alternative music. Fuck them. And Opie needs to shut the fuck up, he has no music taste. Whatever rock that's popular is cool, and if you have any bands in your top five that weren't around for only three years in the 60's, unless it's maybe U2 or Nirvana, you're a hipster. Also, Troy is an ass either way, hipster or not.
Troy is in his late 20s or whatever, so why is he still trying to do things to rebel against his parents? Such a disgrace to metal, and people in general.
It's come to the point that I've realized that the reason why Troy enrages me is because he argues like a woman. There are times where if he's wrong - and those times are often - he'll get passive aggressive with his remarks and will often stray into different topics to try and gain an edge. It's disgusting, really.
It actually offends me to see a guy wearing a dress shirt, vest, and newsboy cap while playing with his stupid smartphone. There are two reasons hipsters annoy me, both similar:
1.)They want the fashion and culture of the past without the ideas, beliefs, and sensibilities that molded those eras.
2.)A lot of them have a half-in/half-out mentality. They want to walk around like a lumberjack but don't want to actually do any manual labor beyond building sets and stages for a play/show.

The problem that I've found in describing hipsters is that it always ends up too vague and too broad. What Jimmy said, even though it can apply, can be used for any kid trying to be scene in any way, hipster or otherwise. And if they genuinely do like the clothing and aren't "pretending", like Troy was arguing, what then? Insist on calling them hipsters?
Not to mention I don't know if anyone who isn't a hipster personally knows one in person enough to frame their psychology.

The 2 most annoying things about hipsters to me are:
They will spend hundreds of dollars to look poor, when they could easily buy the same kind of shit from Goodwill for 5-10 bucks. The whole attempt to appear apathetic and poor is enfuriating, because a) people with limited means dont have much of a choice in their wardrobe and b)there is somethng incredibly douchey about trying to appear as something you clearly or not.

It's come to the point that I've realized that the reason why Troy enrages me is because he argues like a woman. There are times where if he's wrong - and those times are often - he'll get passive aggressive with his remarks and will often stray into different topics to try and gain an edge. It actually offends me to see a guy wearing a dress shirt, vest, and newsboy cap while playing with his stupid smartphone. There are two reasons hipsters annoy me, both similar:
1.)They want the fashion and culture of the past without the ideas, beliefs, and sensibilities that molded those eras.
2.)A lot of them have a half-in/half-out mentality. They want to walk around like a lumberjack but don't want to actually do any manual labor beyond building sets and stages for a play/show.
