The e30 is one of the most evenly balanced cars out there next to the Sprinters.
so putting a "jap crap rice burner" engine in it is a brilliant idea to get a top performing drift car
i.e. to all thos douchebags out there downing on this guy for ruining a "beautifull car" i think a cloud of smoke produced by this monster is better than any german engine will ever produce.

But actually being a Nissan guy I don't know why he put an SR in there unless he had the 2.7 version.
My cuz has got a M20b25 in his mk2 Supra if you ask me thats a great swap idea less weight and the 5m toyota was junk
just go with a M20 save some wieght. Nissan engines hella heavy. I guess thats why they take the beatings but the M20 is a hella strong engine as well cheap to start off with so even though it cost more to build you will save it in the initial buy and installation.

Food for though the 5.0L v12 bmw wieghs 350lbs the ka24de 375lbs
Yea the reason why is it doesn't nicely fit into anything in the U.S. namely the 240sx you have to have a rwd block and a custom intake which usually run at around $1,000 and blocks cost about $500-up depending on what your getting.
But everything about the VET head is better. They just come in the GTiR which was a fwd based awd something like an evo and the Nissan X-trail which is a fwd awd SUV
No they came with the SR20DET and the VET and besides that all VETs are AWD they have stronger bottom end, better oil pumps, bigger ports come with 280hp stock etc.
Anyways teh SR20DET FWD/AWD engine is like $800 most of the time the VET is $1200 but the RWD version of the DET is like $1700 and up depending on the year model.
@lordextravaganda Well for performance it is the best but not for fuel efficiency SR20DET's can get to 1700hp and are the most reliable 4 cylinder engines around.

Why not just turbo an M20 motor? i mean unless u had this motor just laying around i couldn't justify the swap. I mean it just doesn't mix, like two dicks and no chick. Should have put that sr20 in a Versa or something, now that would of been cool.
Well the 318i is a really slow car a 2jz would make it a beast...But for the amount of doe ur spending on it i would really just build an s38 they are just as good a 2jz. OR go all out and but a s85 v10, that would make it the ultimate N/A e30...Well good luck on ur project and put up some vids of the build and when ur ready to unleash it..
yeah the e30 318i is a slow car, but i love the car she handles perfect around every corner and its just a prefect little car for what i wanna do. and having a 2jz N/a would be more then enough power to get the bmw sideways :) 3L straight six put into a 1.8l 4cyl im sure the weight to power ratio would be pretty amazing cause right now the car weights stock just under a tonne.
awesome mate. how much did you spend? and did u do it urself? i am looking at doing this. would i need to replace much in the bmw to do it? ie. obviously the engine. would i need to replace gearbox, driveshaft etc?
Sr20DET is a good engine. BMW E30 is a good car. its too much money to modify or put a new BMW engine in one, so why not put a cheap nissan engine in it.

parts are readily available, these motors are reliable and love a thrashing.

Sr20DET is a good engine. BMW E30 is a good car. its too much money to modify or put a new BMW engine in one, so why not put a cheap nissan engine in it.
