  • Is it just me or do these things sound more Marshall than Marshall?

  • please write here what type of guitar are you using ? exactly the type and model

  • Couple of questions on this:

    - The ISF mode only works on the Overdrive channel? That's the thing where you can toggle the sound between British and American drive, right?

    - The 'Speaker-Emulated Output' means it retains tube-esque sounds when directly plugged into say a mixing desk/audio interface?

Thanks :) Just been made redundant from Best Buy UK (uni music student full-time too) and I'm considering half my redundancy money on this, or all of it on a hardwired Vox AC30.

  • I have this amp and it sound great.

  • I had this amp I sold it. the bugera 333xl-212 slaughters the shit out of this amp. This distortion sounds muddled on the blackstar. This guy is doing a great job of hiding that.

  • These amps are well designed and use decent components but it is a bit of a piss take when you sick union jacks all over your amps, manuals and website when all your products are made in korea!

  • has anyone noticed the constant supply of remanufactured ones on ebay? I wonder how well these last if there's so many remanufactured ones.

  • @MrBuford24d do you mean refurbished? sorry i couldn't get it since my native language is not english.

  • would it be good for arctic monkeys/ strokes style music?

  • @dreamtheaterisbetter really? thanks :)

  • Sounds great, but is this amp good for my range of music, which goes from - B.B. King, to Eric Clapton, to Led Zeppelin, up to BLack Sabbath, and then Motorhead (maybe some lighter Metallica).

  • @vanzeposmith910 Totally good for it. I play blues/jazz up to death metal, and this does extremely well.

  • what celestion is in this? I really want another one to put in my peavey

  • @axeiston

    Celestion Seventy 80's

Great speaker, i like to use it with the good old V30 in a 2x12. Sounds awesome!

  • @DisposableHeros423 google 'HT Club 40 suggested settings - Full Amp' and click the first result on the page

  • I'm just wondering, can this amp make a great bluesy sound (B.B. King, etc.)up to some bluesy rock (Chuck Berry, Eric Clapton) and then hard rock (Sabbath, Zeppelin)?

  • can it use as good gain for metal??

  • @legendsveil yes. it is good for metal.

  • Can this amp get John Mayer-esque type tones?

I imagine it would do quite a good job at it with the fender style clean channel but that's my only concern. It seems great for everything else I play though!

  • This amp sounds amazing!, Also looking quite good! looking forward to buying one!

  • This amp simply kicks ass ! Blackstar rules !

  • Can you use the Boss ME70 with this amp?

  • @SenfMann132 Yeah ... you can use it with any amp.

  • What are the settings of 0:48?

  • @Christofonopolus

Actually, what are the settings of all the sounds here?

  • Im considering one of these to replace my lads tiny terror as that isnt the sound he wants now, his new band play metal like bullet for my valentine, A7x and some metalica. Is this more suitable than the TT?

  • I think the Hot Rod Deluxe has a much deeper and sonic clean channel and therefore with the correct pedals I think it would excel in the distortion department as well. The Blackstar basically uses op amps anyway for it's distortion so it's the same idea only the Blackstar can't produce the deep bottom that the Fender has . The multiple amount of large and small IC's as well as surface mount components in the Blackstar are also a scary long term endurance issue coupled with being Korean made.

  • @clemford1

I Play Fenders (Strat and Tele) trough a Hot Rod Deluxe II and use only the clean channel (impressive deep crystal clean). My pedal is the Boss Blues Driver, the best Overdrive/Distortion to this set in my opinion. I tried Blackstar 20 and, WTF, this guys created an amp with emmulation (no doubt...). The Blackstar sound has compression and sustain, and equalization is just perfect, changing from mesa to marshall just with one knob!!!

But, for me, it doesn´t heve THATCLEANVALVESOUND

  • @aleavino I believe that it has killer distortion but, like you said, it just doesn't deliver that clean sound like the Hot Rod Deluxe. But more importantly, it doesn't deliver that deep sonic 6L6 low end. I just don't think EL34's are capable. I emailed Blackstar and they said this cant be fitted with 6L6's but I'm sure it can with some mods. I have read that the Transformers are very undersized though and that hurts when the amp is driven hard. Still, I wouldn't picking up a used one.

  • how much does this amp weigh and is it mdf or plywood.

  • How does this compare to the Hot Rod Deluxe III?

  • does this have more gain than the 20 watt (studio 20)??

  • Wow! I'm very interested to buy this combo... what is the meaning of "Speaker emulated output" ?

It can be used to send the signal to the mic in of my pc?

I'm very noob with amplifiers, I've always used a amplifier simulator...

Thanks and forgive me for my poor english

  • @onimusher It is a line level ouput to run direct to a mixer and possibly will work with the Mic In. i mic'd one of these for a friend using 4 channels. the emulator out direct to the board, sm57 in the front, sm57 in the back of the cabinet and a condensor by the ceiling of the room directly above the amp... sounded amazing mixed down.

  • god i really need to hear this one through 4x12 cab :/

  • I'm in love

  • This is soooo good for 700 bucks dude.

  • Used to be obsessed with Marshall but this amp changed me! Never going back... you would need to pay three times the price to get anything this good in a Marshall!

  • @Blackstaramps As well as 1:20? thank you

  • @Blackstaramps What are the settings at 0:35

  • what's with the binding around the speaker and control interface? mine turns purple under some light?

  • thats a slick looking fender. does anybody know what model it is?

  • Hey I have the ht club 40 and I enjoy it a lot but I keep getting a lot of buzz. On the clean channel I get only a little buzz but on overdrive its just ridiculous how much buzz I get.. I know its not my pickups or guitar cuz ive tried it on different amps.. so I want to know if my amp is defective or I need to change the tubes... ive only had it for 2 months and its been buzzing since day 1... plz help :(

  • @Dom1n1canBeast hey dude i got same problem my amp has only a few weeks! how do we get rid of that buzz?

  • Just bought one today.

  • Is this thing powerful enough for gigging? As in small pubs/clubs to medium sized venues?

    I appreciate anyones help!

  • @PaddyButters It is!

  • @PaddyButters I feel it's plenty loud while still sounding great on the clean channel, but it can sound somewhat thin when trying to get loud enough with the gain channel. I actually run an ht dual through the clean channel and it sounds great and plenty loud enough. I don't think you can go wrong with this amp even with that issue.

  • Any chance to hear this amp with a Les Paul-type guitar?

  • Is the HT-40 open or closed cab?

  • @madmoe70 Closed

  • what are the settings at 1:40?

  • Comment removed

  • @sau88776677kj I know what you mean when you said those bands automatically I thought the new Orange amps do classic perfectly. had a Tiny and it seemed great at two things classic crunch and spanky fat clean tone. I didnt care much for Orange lead tone and thats without pedals. The Blackstar is what I'm looking into now its been impressing me but if I had the cash I'd get a ToneKing Imperial for classic tones all the way.

  • bought one online 2 days ago ^^

  • @sau88776677kj If it has enough gain for metal, then of course you could play rock.

  • @fergusguitar Alchemist is shite imo

  • How would the DUAL sound through this?

  • I have this amp, I love it. but being 15, living with parents and having neighbours isn't great because I never get to crank it up! :(

  • please do this review with a humbucker guitar!

  • damn that sounds amazing...

  • blackstar HT 40

    or marshal haze 40?

    i can't choose D8

  • @MYEYESONECONOMY I would say HT40 :)

  • @wijnand55 why? ^^

  • @MYEYESONECONOMY Just becouse i like it more, i would say, try both of em out in a store. you can read hundreds of reviews and see hundreds of youtube previews, nothing is like feeling and hearing a amp yourself.

  • @wijnand55 i have, but i cant make the decision!

  • I've heard better tones from the Vox Valvetronix, and at several hundred $ less than this Blackstar.

  • @Jank143 I tryed both at the store, and man, the ht40 rly blows the valvetronix away!

  • the sound at 0:36 blew me away!! xD

  • what a mic and cable use you ?

  • @TriplePlatin Shure SM-57 (mic)

  • i have serious gas

  • Geeeeeeeeesus, OK OK, easy! I buy one then, just stop this explosion of awesomeness!!!!

    :D

  • Try as I might I couldn't get the first 2 gain samples out of these amps yesterday, using a telecaster...couldn't get the high chimey overdrive on the 20 or 60 combos

  • sounds soo good every time I hear this..

  • Does this have a headphone jack...sounds just amazingm and I'm slowly being persuaded to buy this over the peavey classic 30....

  • must have tranny's in the preamp has stronger attack than full tube amps..

  • @askethom04 2 ECC83s (or 12AX7s), and 2 EL34s

  • how is he playing with the standby switch off?

  • @MitchRulzWorld The blackstar ht series only goes to standby if u unplug ur guitar im pretty sure

  • @fairfaxsurfshoprider So why even have a switch for it?

  • @MitchRulzWorld i think that the close up part of the video is a separate video. if you look while he's playing it looks like it's on.

  • this or a mesa f-50

    Please respond need help!

    Thanks

  • @AustinSk84life95 This. Pure accident - I tested both yesterday. But this and leave the Mesa to grandpas.

  • holy shit!!!! its sounds so f****** awesome!!! the price is awesome too not like this shitty and overpriced mesa rectifier!!!

  • Blackstar HT FTW!

  • you cannot beat british valve amps for tone! This sounds similar to a marshall Haze but the gain is more, whats the term? fuller? richer ? saturated? I dunno but it sounds better to me. I gotta get one

  • What kind of strat is that you're playing?

  • @droo2oord Looks like a Fender American Standard/Deluxe HSS.

  • @Blade686 W/ a flame maple top?

  • @droo2oord Oh wow i thought it was regular sunburst... don't know then.

  • HOLY CRAP!!!! That Strat is SICK!!!!!

  • Can some one please help me im looking for a new amp and i cant decide on one a Blackstar Venue Series 40 or a Peavey 6505 112 or a Bugera 6262 combo. So if any one knows any thing about thees amps and could help me decide please comment me back.

    Thanks

  • @AustinSk84life95 black*

  • I heard this amp demonstrated in my local music shop today. I was gobsmacked, especially as it only costs £550. I already own a Blackstar HT5 and the Club 40 is now top of my wish list. I'm off to see if my boss will give me some overtime!!

  • blackstar ht club 40 or mrashall MA50? i have an epiphone LP custom...i like playing metal but i had in mind after bying the amp to get a boss me-70 for effects .>>> what you think i should do??

  • @alexmetallicaZFC13 the blackstar easily

  • @alexmetallicaZFC13 buy the blackstar!!!! =)

  • @alexmetallicaZFC13

The club 40, as far as these clips show, will shit on the MA. The MA series are terrible, fizzy amplifiers.

And just IMO, I'd get a line 6 m9/m13 over the me-70. great sounding multis.

  • i'm really thinking about getting one of these. sounds great. i had been thinking of either this or a peavey 6505 combo112, Orange tiny terror combo, Egnater Renegade. still undecided but the renegade is a little more than i want to spend.

  • @jortiz77437 wich one did u get because im trying to chouse between the peavey and this too

  • @AustinSk84life95 I got neither one . i went with a much smaller tube amp. I ordered the Blackstar HT 5 combo. I went with blackstar because it has that strong british distortion tone that i was looking for. I watched a lot of youtube review videos and read a lot of online reviews of Blackstar products and they are top sellers and 5 star rated products. I didnt see anyone say anything negative about Blackstar products. Cant wait to get my amp in and i know i wont be disappointed.

  • @jortiz77437 yea thats why i like the Blackstar too but im just worried it wont have enough gain =(

  • @AustinSk84life95 I tell you mate you should try one out. There is defo enough gain on tap man. I fell in love with the amp and got it on the day i tired it.

  • @joeparkes ohh well yea ill have to try one out

    thanks

  • @AustinSk84life95 Plenty of gain. Dunno what kind of music do you play, but this one gives you all you want, I bet.

  • @jortiz77437 the good with blackstar also is that you can sound like a mesa boogie too with a massiv bass/lower mids attack

  • i'm really thinking about getting one of these. sounds great. i had been thinking of either this or a peavey 6505 combo112, Orange tiny terror combo, Egnater Renegade. still undecided but the renegade is a little more than i want to spend.

  • I have just bought one of these amps after trying loads of others and it sounded better than the rest I just love this amp

  • I played the HT-20 Combo last Saturday at a music store in Germany. It's such an amazing amp. I recorded it and uploaded it to my channel:

    /watch?v=x0QzjSq5Q-k

Considering that the HT-20 and this have the same tube configuration, I'd consider it equal sounding.

  • @maulwurfrockt What about volume? Is it much quieter than 40 watt version?? They both have 2*el34 in pwramp section...

  • Well, I only played the 20 Watt and I didn't put master and volume past 12 o'clock cause that would have disturbed everybody else in the store.

  • @maulwurfrockt Wheres your sense of adventure! Every time i'm in Guitar Center i cant hear myself trying stuff because some dope is sitting there playing thrash and blairing everyone out. Last time i was there they said they had to ban a guy cuz he came in every day and did that and they let him back in after a few months and he's right back at it. If I think i like something I just buy it and take it home and give it the good test run since they got a 30 day no questions return policy

  • How's the voicing on dirty channels? are they more aggressive than the HT-5? and why only 2 preamp 12ax7 tubes? & lastly made in Korea?

  • Just bought mine! Hopefully should be arriving in the next couple of days!! :D

  • GAS!!! *-*

  • @Blade686 TOO MUCH GAS.. I need to sell my SpiderValve now...

  • Yes pls make a head version of this. I dont need bigger than max 50 watts and HT-5 head is awesome, have it. Keep up the good work, love your products.

  • I hope they'll do a head version of this! All I want is a 40-50 watts version of my lovely HT-5 head! a reverb is nice too...

  • I agree, I feel the same way about a 40-50 watt head version. Until then, I may get the 100 watt head version.

  • @maxlamenace987654321 you can buy a cabinet for this and make this the head for 80 watts of power

  • @Haloplayer20 that doesnt even make sense..... how can a 40w amp produce 80w when a cabinet is added??? in any case the watt output will stay the same or decrease as u are using the 40w from the blackstar to drive ur speakers.. check ur facts!
