How do you address those dependent on food stamps and public housing? What happens to them? This is something I want to hear explained. I dont live on food stamps, so I don't know how badly they will be affected, I just know there are a shitload of people on it. And if someone says free market, please explain further.

@quietlike He wouldn't be cutting them immediately. His plan is to create a free-market and lower corporate taxes to 15%, so America can be competative with China. That'll attract many businesses back who want to save on transportation costs.
Then he'll cut taxes. What happens when you have extra money? Well, you either spend it or save it. Whe citizens save, it stimulates the economy by creating demand. Demand creates jobs.
So, it's a process, but they'll be able to find employment.
If you look at the plan, Food stamps go from (in millions, pg6) 80k to 30k -which I'm guessing is the '06 budget. How do you explain it to people (Some 48 million people on food stamps), and how do those people eat? Does deflation occur, and prices fall? Do these people end up with jobs, how? I realize their existence has made people dependent, but how do they get off the dependency?
I know a freer market allows for this, but how do the poor transition? They aren't ready, and probably not equipped for a sudden change. These are people without savings. Is it from the savers who invest in their neighborhoods? I want to hear a specific scenario (or a few, because Im sure different areas will deal with it differently), or examples of what the transition will look like, and what direction people can take to deal with it. We all know it won't be easy doing the right thing.
@quietlike (1/3) Well, perhaps more programs will need to be created to help re-introduce individuals back into the work force. I don't have savings either but I still work a full-time job. Not having savings is no argument against working. In fact, I'd say that it'd push people to work.
I couldn't give you specific examples (as I don't know EXACTLY how Ron plans to transition this). However, giving people education tax credits to go to school or help people pay off student loans.

@quietlike There's also tackling the cost of living. Increased demand lowers the cost. So, it would stand to reason (if even in an overly simple way) that:
Increased jobs (more income) + Lowered taxes (left over money) = Increased demand (shopping)
It isn't simple & it will be a very big transition, but its a nessesary growing pain. If serious changes to budget & spending habits doesn't happen, then the poor of America will have worse to fear than experiencing a few uncomfortable years.

I dont live on food stamps, so I don't know how badly they will be affected, I just know there are a shitload of people on it. And if someone says free market, please explain further.

@quietlike He wouldn't be cutting them immediately. His plan is to create a free-market and lower corporate taxes to 15%, so America can be competative with China. That'll attract many businesses back who want to save on transportation costs.
Then he'll cut taxes. What happens when you have extra money? Well, you either spend it or save it. Whe citizens save, it stimulates the economy by creating demand. Demand creates jobs.
So, it's a process, but they'll be able to find employment.

If you look at the plan, Food stamps go from (in millions, pg6) 80k to 30k -which I'm guessing is the '06 budget. How do you explain it to people (Some 48 million people on food stamps), and how do those people eat? Does deflation occur, and prices fall? Do these people end up with jobs, how? I realize their existence has made people dependent, but how do they get off the dependency?

I know a freer market allows for this, but how do the poor transition? They aren't ready, and probably not equipped for a sudden change. These are people without savings. Is it from the savers who invest in their neighborhoods? I want to hear a specific scenario (or a few, because Im sure different areas will deal with it differently), or examples of what the transition will look like, and what direction people can take to deal with it. We all know it won't be easy doing the right thing.

@quietlike (1/3) Well, perhaps more programs will need to be created to help re-introduce individuals back into the work force. I don't have savings either but I still work a full-time job. Not having savings is no argument against working. In fact, I'd say that it'd push people to work.
I couldn't give you specific examples (as I don't know EXACTLY how Ron plans to transition this). However, giving people education tax credits to go to school or help people pay off student loans.

There probably will be lots of unhappy people, but there are 3 kinds of poor people on welfare: people who can't find enough work, people who can't work (disability) and people who don't want to work.
The increase in jobs handles those who can't find enough work & those who are physically or psychologically incapable of working are eligible for welfare.

Those who do want to work will probably have new jobs available to them under Ron's plan, which is ultimately the biggest hurdle.

@quietlike There's also tackling the cost of living. Increased demand lowers the cost. So, it would stand to reason (if even in an overly simple way) that:
Increased jobs (more income) + Lowered taxes (left over money) = Increased demand (shopping)
It isn't simple & it will be a very big transition, but its a nessesary growing pain. If serious changes to budget & spending habits doesn't happen, then the poor of America will have worse to fear than experiencing a few uncomfortable years.

Ron Paul would rather us go back to having wallstreet running the show rather than moving us forward by repelling Dodd-Frank a law which set to regulate corporate greed. Ron Paul in that sense is no different from any of the other GOP candidates. I believe he also talked about repelling Sarbanes-Oxley a law on accounting reform, which would in essence bring us back to the ENRON days of cooking the books.

To people that want things cleared up. Yes there will be a short term job loss for some gov employees, but they will be quickly absorbed into the private sector in a growing economy. Cuts are prioritised to overseas spending, this means national spending on the american people will not take a hit. Getting rid of energy dept is good as it eliminates stupid bureaucracy & compliance costs..etc etc..
