  • Yes, i totally agree. As a Los Angeles Life Coach, also Known as Coach Hollywood, NLP is the way to be an effective communicator!!

  • I've noticed this with my friend and I see how the use of "you" and "we" rather than "I" and "you" dissociate him from the point he's making. And from letting the other person have their own perspective (by using "we" rather than "you"). i've mentioned it but it's so automatic that he doesn't see it. So it's validating to hear this point made and the difference it can make in really experiencing something and owning it. Thank you!!!

  • when talking about personal experiences, a lot of people phrase say 'you' when in reality they mean 'i'....eg. a person talking: "When you're in a situation like that, it's impossible for you to not feel uncomfortable" .... instead of saying "it makes me feel uncomfortable" etc.. small thing a guy used to always pick me up on.. haha, can be challenging ;)

  • "I" is always used for the first person, "you" for the second, etc.

What the hell's the point here??

  • Just a guess, it's probably a way clients talk about personal problems that therapists encounter more often then professionals in other lines of work.

Think of it like how teenagers sometimes will talk about a problem by saying, I have a friend that... to discuss a problem they have.

At first I was WTF does this mean too.

  • Some people say 'you' when they refer to themselves. Crazy but true. 'you are very this' does not work as well as 'I am ...'

  • how do we use this and talk to people at the same time

  • "another (excellent) nlp trainer"

    that makes you excellent ;)

  • but we have experiences all the time that we did not formulate linguistic representations of in advance. don't we?

  • Straightforward as always. How many reminders about language before my subconscious takes it all in?
